Just came home from Holloway prison after spending the morning teaching debating to the inmates.

Pre-conceptions sooooo far wide of the mark, was great fun and they were so much better than I expected them to be! Back the next two Fridays.

We used to play against a team of inmates from Wymott nick. For obvious reasons both home and away games were played at their place. Played against their ever revolving team on a number of occasions and without exception they were always, without a doubt, the nicest bunch of guys you could play against. My theory is that playing footie was a privilege for them and one that they didn't want to jeopardise.

Brilliant night at the Octagon last night for the last production of the season, Noises Off.

This is a good old English farce, and whilst I am not generally a fan of the genre I laughed until I had tears last night. Its so slick, so frenetic, so energetic, so polished. There are, of course, lots of doors opening and closing, lots of trousers falling down and lots of young ladies in their underwear...well, two of them. But there's much more to this than any other farce you might have seen before. It's mad, totally and brilliantly mad!

The set is fantastic and the set changes during the two half hour intervals are unbelievable. The cast, many of them seen in other productions here, just throw themselves into this and if two or three of them end the run without having sustained injury they'll be very lucky. It was exhausting to watch so what it's like to act in I can't imagine.

Almost a full house and a very appreciative audience. David Thacker was up in the gallery with his notes. I think he enjoyed himself!

One of the best Octagon productions I have ever seen, certainly the funniest and I urge everyone to go see it, you won't be disappointed.

And we bought our season tickets for next season whilst we were there.

Went to see the film "Spy" last night. A sort of spoof James Bond type thing..Will get no Oscars, adds nothing to the understanding of being .... but I laughed like a drain. Brilliant uncomplicated entertainment.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

Last night I went to see Patti Smith at the Apollo. At 68, she's still an absolute badass legend! Loved every minute!

Hi ladies and gents,

I wondered whether this may be of interest to some? ESPN are conducting a nationwide study to get the views and experiences of sports fans who watch live matches in their city.
There’s currently a low response rate in Bolton, so by taking this 5 minute survey you can give the city a voice and be in with a chance of winning centre court tickets to Wimbledon this year!

An article on how to access the survey is on: http://www.espn.co.uk/espn/story/_/id/1 ... ing-cities" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Or you can go directly to the survey here: https://populus.livesurveys.net/espn" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Good luck to all those who enter.
