I was concerned he'd come down the finishing straight like that dude who was caught in the toxic waste in Robocop.Bruce Rioja wrote:This morning it was just drizzle. so you only looked like wobbling waxwork.

Right. Bring on your Horwich shenanigans. This'll be my third 5K in four days. Tomorrow might hurt!

Re: The athletics/running thread
Had a brilliant race yesterday.
Total time 2hrs53minutes which was 6 minutes faster than last year. 2minutes faster on the swim and 4 minutes faster on the bike. Had I not got cramp on the run I would have taken at least a minute off that too.
Very happy bunny today.
Mrs GtE did her first ever 10k today in 1 hr 13 minutes and young Miss GtE ran the 5k version of a tough course.
Proper sporty family.

Horwich 5k today. Clocked 26.47 which was exactly a minute faster than yesterday and a new PB. Ok, it wasn't over the PR course, but after 2 x 5k's in two days i'm having that!
Many, many thanks to LE and Penders for post race refreshments.

Can't be as bad as Bolton. Chuck yourself in at the deep end, there's no better place to start. Once you've done a bit of training first.Gooner Girl wrote:Nowhere near fit enough for park run yetBurnden Paddock wrote:No. It didn't rain and I didn't melt. No chance. Anyone can see your times. Right now that would be far too embarrassing. Triple Jump is the way forward. You should give it a try. Throwing yourself into a sand pit is far more fun then running!Burnden Paddock wrote: Can't be as bad as Bolton. Chuck yourself in at the deep end, there's no better place to start. Re: The athletics/running thread
You did brilliant, mate. Really well done. I'm afraid I was Derek Dogshit yesterday and didn't finish, pulling in after two of the three laps. Three x 5K in four days, including Saturday's PB, just proved to be a mile too far. Hey ho. Now to get some rest and get up to 10K ahead of the Speedo run. Time's aggin us, Chaps.Burnden Paddock wrote:Horwich 5k today. Clocked 26.47 which was exactly a minute faster than yesterday and a new PB. Likewise, many thanks to LE and Penders for a post-race skinfull (but not for the homebrew dreggs or that pot of excrement).

And thanks to you for picking me up.

5.5 miles over Rivington tonight. One of those rare times, for me at any rate, where everything feels great and combined with lovely weather made me feel like I could have ran all night. Lovely

Nice one. I was back at Lea Valley for an open water swim. 1 lap warm up, 4 at effort and 1 to warm down 6 laps (1500m) total, then out of the water and a run round the centre twice (2k total)
Nice and relaxed. Beautiful sunny evening too. One of those good to be alive evenings.

So you can either do the run as planned or, more conveniently, do it in Bolton.
Why not contact the club and see if they will let you start and finish at the ground (maybe even on the pitch) in Full Kit Wanker mode and then donate what you would have raised to the charity you were supposed to raise it for. Maybe get Kevin Davies and the local media involved for a bit of extra support. I'm sure a 10k route could be devised pretty quickly round there too.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Neil Bonnar said that he was happy to do a piece on it. However, and true to form, BWFC have gone quiet on it. Apparently, my house to the war memorial, to AB Asda, then to Tom Ashton's and back to mine is 10K, so I might put a barrel on.Gary the Enfield wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:The Gary Speed 10K Memorial Run is no longer that!
