I thought the game was competitive and we looked good against a team which are a moth into there season preparations! I don't think we should get carried away with god or bad performances it was the first pre season game I am sure Lennon will keep pushing until he is happy. The new signings look good considering we have spent diddly squat on them! The officials were pathetic some things never change! Overall I was pleased with the first game of pre season we look to going int right direction.

No idea what happened to Clayton yesterday as he warmed up, then spent 10 minutes on his own with one of the staff doing some work turning round a dummy in the box from wide left positions. I presume he's tweaked something, either that or they're going to look at him playing a wider role.

I thought he has been sitting out some of the more strenuous training sessions (read it on here or Bolton news). Perhaps he is not quite ready for a full competitive game yet. I hope my assumption is correct and he hasn't tweaked something.

Watched the game, we had a good 15-20 minutes. Aside from that we looked like we were going through the motions fitness wise. They're further ahead of us in their preseason as far as I'm aware so I guess we can't complain too much. Well taken goal by Sparky and a moment of madness at the back regarding the penalty. Unlucky to get beat.

It was I who had the 'encounter' with Lennon in the urinals. He was slagging Wheater off on that day (after home defeat to Watford) but very complimentary about Pratley and my tadger.

I sat through the pre-season video from the day of the Sturm Graz game. Max Clayton can be seen warming up at 5 min 55 secs. If he hasn't had a re-occurrence of the knee injury then I don't think he can be far away. I don't think they would be having him do this training unless his knee was OK.

The bits I saw corroborate that, even allowing for early pre-season. Looked like a good evening out though without all the music and charlie corner.

Given the starts we've had to the last two seasons I'd have thought getting them fully ready for the first game was an obvious essential. If the reason is the lack of time then he should have had them back in a couple of weeks sooner

Full match fitness takes time and friendlies don't get you there. In a match that doesn't matter no player will give absolute 100%, which you need for full fitness. Match fitness is about more than running around for 90+ minutes...

I usually prefer to blame it on the prick of a manager and useless players. The alternative is to believe Trotter, Moxey to name a few are good enough, and that is a fairy tale too far for me...
