What are you watching tonight?

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I've just got a months free trial to lovefilm and do like it, but like you said, I don't want to be paying both subscriptions at once. On balance I'd say Netflix is better for TV shows (particularly American ones if you download a plug-in) but can be a bit lacking in good movies at times, and I usually end up taking forever to just pick something to watch. It tends to be really good for foreign and independent films though, and documentaries. I suppose with Netflix vs Amazon Prime it's eventually going to come down to has the 'must watch' original content.Prufrock wrote:Don't have Sky- all I'd want is the football, and I'd rather go to the pub anyway - but recently decided to have a do at Netflix. Had Lovefilm for a couple of years, and held off on Netflix because I didn't want to pay for both and whilst Netflix has more stuff, I like having Amazon Prime (which comes with Lovefilm) and I like being sent a random disk that makes me watch films I might otherwise not quite get round to.
So...Our kid got Netflix the other week, and with it he can register up to four screens at once. So between him, me and my missus we're now paying £3 per month and have all the telly I've ever wanted! It's f*cking mint! Had a few days off work recently and spent the whole time re-watching over and over again The Office and Alan Partridge. They reckon they've got new stuff too, but I'm not there yet.
Re: What are you watching tonight?
I've decided it's worth both. I prefer the content of Netflix, but I buy enough off amazon to make prime worth it just for the free delivery I get. And yeah, lovefilm edges on the films, and runs away with it once you include the discs.

That it's going to lose its mind

Started the Bosch series. Just three episodes so far. Michael Connely is just the best at detective fiction and I've read most of his books.

Great character and writer I agree. I've read about 5/6 of them but intend to read the lot.TANGODANCER wrote:Started the Bosch series. Just three episodes so far. Michael Connely is just the best at detective fiction and I've read most of his books.
Titus Welliver is a good actor too, how does he come across? Better than Cruise/Reacher?!
Keep meaning to pick up this series myself.

Please don't mention Cruise and Reacher in the same sentence.LeverEnd wrote:Great character and writer I agree. They're leaning a bit heavy on the bedroom stuff I.M.O, L.E. I never really saw Bosch that way. Welliver is fine in the part because Bosch is also more brains than brawn. All in all, interesting. I'm looking forward to the rest.

Watched Jumanji for the first time in ages this week. Couple of things:
1) How the hell did that get passed as a kids film? Some stuff in there would give kids nightmares!
2) Don't know how I never noticed before that Van Pelt is the guy's dad.

I honestly just think kids films have gotten a lot safer in the last 20 years. These days they just seem to be very cuddly 3D animations with a bit of 'mild peril'. Scariest thing from my childhood was The Demon Headmaster though.KeyserSoze wrote:Watched Jumanji for the first time in ages this week. Couple of things:

Just watching Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers. The first bloke to get chainsawed to death was called Bo Hansen. I love a good wanderers connection.

Watched the 2015 version of Far from the maddding crowd, Know the Thomas Hardy book well and remember the Julie Christie, Alan Bates, Terence Stamp and Peter Finch version from years ago. I like period stuff and this was enjoyable.

You may. I find that they lack any modicum of entertainment value.KeyserSoze wrote:What's your issue with them, may I ask?
