I'm running mate, not marshalling!

Well triple jump didn't go that well Tuesday but I swam 1km last night and felt good on it, like I could swim further, so I guess that's progress!

Nice one! 1K sounds a long way. How many lengths is that? I get bored then knackered after about 16. I've usually been overtaken by about 10 blue rinse ladies as well doing breast stroke

I was doing breast stroke! I'm not blue rinse though. Yet! It was 40 lengths.

How's the hamstring?

40 lengths  . Wow! Seriously, well done.

Hamstrings a lot better ta, would probably benefit from some swimming tbh but I just cant face it. Might try a couple of wee jogettes next week

That's good re the hamstring! You more mature (geriatric) athletes are always injured! ;) I hope this isn't what I have to look forward to as a veteran.

Good luck with the runs next week though I think you should consider a swim too! It's too hot to run far!

I would make some remark about the superiority of the female of the species but I'm a bit outnumbered!

I think it's more a reflection of me being a slower, 'mature', beer bellied individual than any superiority contest between the male and female of the species tbf.

So when is your return to competition? I trust that Sky have snapped up the broadcasting rights? :)

Some chap's video recorded this morning's Parkrun. I'm not on it as I'll have been too fast for him, natch ;) Anyway, it doesn't even begin to do the mean-spirited bitch that is Cruella any justice, but here you go! :)

If you're going to film it and say that the hill 'killed you', at least do it properly. Show the pain and the struggle to get up there ffs!

Didn't feel great today, so decided to just get around. Felt stronger as it went on, which I was pleased with and managed a 'strong' finish witnessed by LE (come on, back me up). Finished in 27.59 which I was quite pleased with under the circumstances. Still plenty of room for improvement though.

A few years ago I took a week's holiday in Zermatt, Switzerland. At all times you are utterly dwarfed by, and are in a state of complete awe by the dominance of the Matterhorn. However, can you take a picture of it or gain any kind of footage of it that doesn't leave it looking like little more than a chunk of Toblerone? Can you shite!

I reckon that it's similar with Cruella. The only way that anyone will ever get to appreciate how evil a bitch she truly is, is to get the pumps out and run up her! Even if it's just once.

Cruella is a bitch. But we love her. :P

Yesterday I did a fairly innocuous 12 x 1 minute hill efforts but had a little pain running downhill towards the end.

Today I did a slow 10 miler (9min. pace) and my knee was, largely, okay.

I am sufficiently laced thank you. It's my knee that's knacked, not my shoes.

Late to swimming tonight so only managed to get 5 laps in. 250m warm up then 4 laps time at 24 minutes dead.

2 run circuits around the complex finished off the session.

Tired tonight.

Back to football today for first time in ages. Pre season training. Fitness work at first which was exhausting but fine, but then when we went into a game I managed to do myself an injury. I've never even had a proper injury before, is this what happens when you get old? I turned and accelerated after the ball and pulled a muscle in my quad. Bit gutted to be honest - I guess I will have to rest it - for how long? I was going to swim tomorrow but more importantly I really wanted to triple jump in a competition next week. How long do these things take to heal?
