Tried to get to Clacton air show a couple of years ago to see it, but traffic was at a standstill. Went to the beach at Frinton a few miles along the coast instead. Unfortunately, it was a very cloudy day but still got to see an absolutely enormous 'triangle' in the distance. Hugely impressive even from a good few miles away.

Strolling back to the car afterwards and turned to see the Red Arrows flying back up the coastline in formation.

Saw it at Southport about 4 or 5 years ago along with the then newly unveiled Eurofighter. Both, for entirely different reasons, fecking awesome. A mate of a mate shot some footage of the Vulcan coming over Belmont and Winter Hill. I'll see if I can find it.

Saw some photos from last weekend. Brilliant! I was too lazy to get off my arse to go and see it. Really annoyed with myself afterwards.

Went to the airshow at BA around 20 or so years ago. There was a Harrier 'hovering' a few hundred feet off the ground. My skeleton is still vibrating. fecking awesome!

A couple of years ago at Blackpool air show, the Vulcan headed towards the shore, turned round and gave it full throttle. The Prom shook, all the kids started screaming and I took my hearing aid out, loud is not the word to use
The Typhoon I saw at Southport was, I wish I could fly one of those, man that looks good type of things, the pilot pointed it up right, lit the paper and wham!!! A few seconds later it was a dot way, way up, awesome.

As the "Low Tax" party, he's managed to increase Taxation by £22Bn.

It's about as neutral as it can get for me, personally. But then it's not about me, is it?

I'm just surprised the "we can't afford it" crew, aren't up in arms about an increase of £83bn in Public Spending. I'm fairly sure it's not the sort of change than even Billy Bragg finds down the back of the sofa.

And I guess the tax increases must be happening to some other bugger, given the nods of approval.

Have fun with it, BB. I've got a D5100 and it is good - assuming good lenses. Finding your way round the menus is a bit of a bother though, particularly when the retailer doesn't supply the doco! They claim that they are being 'green' and saving paper or some such nonsense. WTF is all that about? It means that the purchaser has to source the information on the Internet (assuming they have such access) and then print out the blasted thing themselves. To rub salt into the wound the 300mm lens which I purchased at the same time arrived with comprehensive paper work.

Anywhatsit, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with your new toy.

I bought, for a mere £15 from Wykes (other brands are available ... but a lot dearer. Fiskar's is 120 or so), an extendable tree pruner thingymijig to help trim back some trees which over the years have got a bit out of hand.

Amazed at it. It has limitations in that some branches, over 5" diameter can't be got through and some are still just too high to reach (but it extends to 15', which given my outstretched reach of maybe 7-8' and it can be safely enough used on ladders so I can get to a lot before I need to get proper men I.

Soooo bloody excited by it. I'm having to restrict my use or the whole garden would be in danger.
