In yesterday's BN, Lennon parsed that further:
We’ve got David Wheater and Tim Ream to come into that defensive unit and provided we can get a right-back or two in, I don’t have too many problems there.
Presumably he thinks one of Moxey, Ream or Kellett will come good. (Note Ream is coming into the "defensive unit".)

And in today's BN, Lennon challenges trialist Lawrie Wilson to be our man:
We’re having a look at Lawrie – he’s had an offer on the table from another club. We were made aware of it but he’s trained on his own, made himself available to come in, and even though he hasn’t played much football, just half an hour, he probably will start on Tuesday.
That will give us a really good look at him because we are really short of one, maybe two right-backs at the moment. We’ve been putting square pegs in round holes in that position for a long time. Since I’ve been in the door we haven’t had a right-back of our own, so that’s the challenge for Lawrie.
Wilson – who was born near Romford but attended a prep school near Glastonbury – is 27, can also play in midfield, came into the league with Stevenage then played 100 games for Charlton (including 27 last season).

Interesting interview with him here.

Looking at the BN's article around Le Fondre, it seems we can afford his wages on a loan IF we can ship out Medo and Spearing. It's a long shot Captain.....

Makes you wonder what Heskey thinks of the same chant being sung for him.

RE: Spearing making way for Le Fondre

Lennon recently said that he's looking forward to working with Jay this year ... but managers often say that, only for the lad to be loaned out not long later. So we'll see.

Personally, I like Spearing and would rather see him ahead of Danns. Unfortunately, Danns signed a new contract not too long ago, which is a shame as we could have freed up his wages.

I reckon Spearing might be on twice Danns' wages. Aug 2013 was a very different time to Jan 2015.

At least I reckon.
I see Kev McN is now on trial at wigan. Not sure what Lennon had against him. A full-back who can actually defend. I think most of the few decent RB performances in a Bolton shirt in the last few years have come from him. Considering the situation we are in I'd have him back in a hearbeat.
Also saw this, though not convinced by the source.

And finally, happy 50th to Gudni. :pissed:

Yup, but Lennon seems ready and willing to offload anyone in a bid to free up wages, and I think Danns has had his day and his wages could have been freed up. Particularly if Jay does stay. Hey, it'd be something at least.

Danns did alright when with Pratley and before he was burnt out.

He has his limitations like dallying on the ball but he is certainly committed.

Agreed. I wouldn't be writing him off completely, but if he's a mainstay then we are struggling.

Eddie has never physically put M170 into the Club,I doubt (apart from his 1st year that he actually put any of his cash into the Club!! Pure speculation on my part but I,d be shocked if he actually bankrolled us...we were receiving millions in pl cash and managers were allowed to spend it,now that cash isn't there, there is no money for NL to spend, and if he walks away he will convert the M170 into shares of club and own the land ,Hotel, training pitches etc...

Ha, no-one wants to see that. I hope you stopped her.

We'll let jonnycooper off though given even Fitzgerald wrote this is The Great Gatsby:

"But there was a change in Gatsby that was simply confounding. He literally glowed; without a word or a gesture of exultation a new well-being radiated from him and filled the little room."

Adam Le Fondre:

'I have no future at Cardiff City'.

Apparently wants a move north!

He's not going anywhere for free though, it'll have to be a case of scraping together some kind of fee (and other Championship clubs can simply outbid us there judging by what they've been spending so far) and making sure his wages fit our budget...

Cardiff wanting him there or not, he's still a player under contract and as such is worth money to them...

Can't see why Slade doesn't like him though, clearly one of the better strikers in the league?

He also said "it's going to be a more northern club" which isn't the same as it's going to be us, Preston or Burnley!

Apologies to A:F for the comparison, but it might be just a bad fit like Beckford here. Best all round to move on.

Not sure 3 goals in 21 puts him in the top bracket.

Anyhow, we've got our fighting fund going, how could he resist?

That may be true but there are probably clubs in this league who can afford close to what Cardiff would want for him, so just letting him go super cheap like Baptiste to Boro isn't going to happen.

If we could convince Cardiff to loan him to us that would be great, but we'd probably have to take on his whole wage...
