Re: 2015/16 pre-season
Anyone going to Scunthorpe?
In the giddy delirium surrounding the final whistle last night, match, beers and an overnight stay in the Scunthorpe Hilton was discussed, but then reality kicked in. We can all dream.

For Tierney's goal I'm glad to see that we've knocked all that tippy-tappy shit out of him from Real Madrid in record time. "Knock it over the top, Son. One - nil".

May the bridges I burn light your way

Bit concerned about that free header from a corner Madine stuck 8 miles wide!

Did, 30 times. First ten thinking I'd got my wrong glasses on, second ten with dropped jaw and third ten applauding Captain Pratley....Class....Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Watch it on loop, forever: https://vine.co/v/e6PJp77pLvw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Prufrock wrote:Bit concerned about that free header from a corner Madine stuck 8 miles wide!

Early on he had a couple of difficult moments and they attacked us pretty well for half an hour. After that though as we took control he looked confident defensively and took the initiative going forward. Had a decent game but wasn't tested much.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:How did Lawrie Wilson play at Problem Position?
I liked his long curly hair as well. Lustrous.

Forgot to post this of the Oldham snackbar from the other night. For prufrock mainly, I know he likes this sort of thing. Lovely sense of humour.

Things were looking very grim at the 'Tuck Shop' when Bruce asked for crisps and was offered 'Pom Bears' ffs!
Fortunately we found the 'Stadi-yum' which supplied us with tongue melting pies. I'd like to tell you all what they were like, but I had no taste buds left after the first bite!

Re: 2015/16 pre-season
Based on the highlight package it seemed that a lot of our threats came from either Route One long ball boots or set pieces. This reminded me a bit of the Big Sam era (minus some of the skill of Jay Jay, Youri, etc.) which was not perhaps a bad thing. Of course one can't tell much from highlights.

Bit harsh, Monty - I thought we knocked it around quite pleasantly (and then usually fluffed it up, but y'know, progress not perfection and all that)

Re: 2015/16 pre-season
It wasn't meant to be harsh just that a few of our chances came from a long ball from the goalie. I don't mind scoring with a long ball approach. Our first goal was a free kick from Amos, headed back by their defence, a long boot forward and a wicked volley into the top of the net. Great shot and effective stuff.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Bit harsh, Monty - I thought we knocked it around quite pleasantly (and then usually fluffed it up, but y'know, progress not perfection and all that)

Re: 2015/16 pre-season
Osede has a reputation as a ball playing defender. I think he fancies himself to have Gerrardesque pinpoint long passing.
Re: 2015/16 pre-season
It's a clever ball played by Derik though because it's a nicely weighted return ball at a defence that's starting to push back up. Long ball or not it worked and Feeney finished it amazingly...Montreal Wanderer wrote:It wasn't meant to be harsh just that a few of our chances came from a long ball from the goalie. The rest of the highlights show that we can actually play some decent stuff at times though, and Dobbie showed some great awareness and made some great passes (the one across the box to Madine who missed/fluffed the finish was a great ball). The little interchange between him and Pratley in the box as well that led to a chance was nice football too.
