not sure which question you are on about - but the one I asked was more like... how bad would it have to be this season for us to consider that Lenny had failed?

(prompted by folk saying we might struggle down in the bottom half...)

we've will have had the settle-in season and the full pre-season and two full transfer windows...
Even by your standards it's splitting hairs to say the question wasn't "what would be a success?" but "what would be a failure?"! ;).
no - big difference - I was asking how low we would have to go to consider LENNON a failure... it seems the team can fail - but he wouldn't be a failure because of all the excuses we haven't heard before like - we have no money... we have injuries... etc..

I'm sure you can spot the difference if you try hard!

In the BN: Lennon's got a first XI in mind but is wondering if it'll be ready for Derby.
I’ve got an idea in my head about the side I want to play against Derby – but I might not be able to put it out there. It’s going to depend a lot on how this next 10 days goes for us. It has got to the stage where some players need some football but we’ve got two more games before the start of the season, so we’ll just have to see what we can do. There’s nothing I can do about it, so I’m not unduly concerned.
I think the majority should be fit for Charlton next week, so we’ll get a chance to get a look at some of them because they need some football. And the ones who have played over the last couple of weeks are in really good nick now.
We’ve tried not to overload them. There have been a lot of games and we’ve got two more before the season starts, so we’ll have to be careful. Dorian Dervite has played a lot, so has Stephen Dobbie, Derik Osede, so we needed to keep an eye on that. We don’t want to over-use them at the minute and want to avoid any more injuries.
Gary Madine is ready for 90 minutes and he’s done really well the last few games now. I think preparations have gone as well as we could have liked. The injuries are niggles, nothing more, there is nothing serious or untoward to worry about there.

We've got a good manager. And some very good young players. What we haven't got is strength in depth or any money.

We need to make best use of what we've got. I think we will be ok this season. Not relegated at least. And that gives Gartside a year to find new owners or investment. If come May next year he hasn't then things will be grim indeed.

Is no-one available to give our very favourite Uncle Eddie a reach-around? With Lennies enthusiasm and a couple of stellar signings over the next week,we could be a force....EDDIE YOU,RE A DIAMOND GEEZER!!

Wheater and Mavies out on the pitch at Port vale apparently. Marc Iles doing his usual live BN thing.

MASSIVE MIDFIELDER NEWS

...Trotter starts

Amos, Wilson, Dervite, Derik, Moxey, Danns, Vela, Trotter, Davies, Feeney, Madine

Could be a 4-2-3-1 with Vela and Trotter as the 2, Feeney and Danns wide of Mavies

Or a 4-4-2 diamond with Vela at the back of it, Danns and Trotter in the middle then Mavies at the tip behind Madine and ersatz forward Feeney

Every time I think "give him a break", every time I think "maybe he'll finally prove me wrong".

He won't though.

Subs are Fitzsimons, Spearing, Dobbie, Twardzik, Woolery, Taylor, Medo, Holding

Captain is Mavies, even though we don't have to call him that any more

Wheater is there but not in the matchday, er, 19
