Great win, and a 2-1 lead with two to play is a good position to be in. Though given how this series has gone already I wouldn't be counting chickens yet.

Think i heard somewhere that Trent Bridge will probably play similarly to Edgbaston (which for some reason Google suggests should be spelled 'Stonewashed' :S). I doubt Australia will bat as terribly they did this test, and obviously no Jimmy is a huge loss for us. Hopefully Finn keeps his head about him and bowls as he did in the second innings, when he seemed unplayable for a while. And the top order batting is still a concern.

Either way, good position to be in, though I have a feeling Australia will be out for blood in Nottingham.

This was a bowlers test. 281 isn't criminal but it's the best either side managed with the bat. If Jimmy is out that's a massive blow. Broad and Finn were excellent, but we need a Jimmy to back them up. I fear Lyth will have to go back and prove himself again at county level, but who in his place, and who in Jimmy's?

Congratulations to England on a well deserved result.

What an odd series it's turning out to be. Cardiff with the home team winning handsomely; Lords with the visitors giving the home team an absolute hiding; Edgbaston the visitors re-invent themselves into a pub team from Kickatinalong. I can't make head nor tail of it.

Don't think many thought any different than that at the start of the series.

It is fair to say the Aussies have performed way below their ability, coupled with conditions that haven't suited them apart from at Lords.

Seeing as the players aren't robots and anything can happen in cricket at any time, who dare predict anything? Next week is the real cruncher; win it and we come out with some real credit, lose it and let the Aussies back in and The Sun and co won't be trilling about "our boys" but mud-slinging with gusto ( as ever). It's a real important game.

Agreed TD, but Aussies were favourite because they had just crushed us last time and by many measures our side had been slightly weakened even since then. And they had gone from strength to strength.

Absolutely agree nothing is won yet. Anderson is a big loss so down to how we cope with it. Be nice if we could make a really big total batting as that takes the pressure off the bowlers to an extent.
