Le Fondre signing for a Northern club next week. Sadly not us. Real shame that.

A Twitter account (not Nixon) that has called a few correct in the past has Kellett going to Sheffield Wednesday.
The Sherpa Van Trophy! We've won it one time!

I don't get Moxey over Kellett but I'm not the coach.

Blackburn are signing ALF apparently.
Have they got a way out on the embargo if they raise so much money?
Or maybe a loan with an agreed fee once the embargo lifts.

It's because they are selling Gestede to Villa for £9m. They can sign a player for 3/4s of the fee coming in so could easily sign ALF. Gutting he's going to the Dingles and will probably score against us
Pfffft.

I'm gutted that we're in the state we are. A once proud top club scraping the barrel and having a bring and buy sale to get a team together. I know what happened over the last few years, just still find it hard to believe how screwed up we are and that not too long back we had Anelka and now we can't even afford players like Alf or Juke.

It is galling. I suppose we can say we are part of a long line of clubs who all pay testament to the principle of what goes up must come down. We aren't alone either, see Fulham, Blackburn etc.TANGODANCER wrote:I'm gutted that we're in the state we are. The 11 years in the premiership though taken in context of the last 50 years are not really the norm for us. We performed above averagely staying there that long and now we are suffering the almost inevitable downward spiral relegation brings. We've got a year to find new owners. That is the game now, if we don't do it by then things will be truly ugly as we will lost the last of the parachute money and be having to scale down even further. And I suspect if next summer rolls round with no investment then Neil Lennon and his gang will be off sharpish. The only realistic way of stopping the rot is an owner coming in and picking up the tab. No other way out beyond the unthinkable.

Well, they were once proud in Tango's lifetime, and mine. But the world changed and for a decade we hit above our weight. C'est la vie.BWFC_Insane wrote:It is galling. Look on the bright side, we could be Pompey. Lots of teams gave a period in the wilderness, Southampton and Coventry being prime examples. Let's hope we're more like the former than the latter.

We dropped out of the top division in 1963 and it took us until 1977 to get back. In that time I was convinced we never would, certainly I was until maybe 1974.Bijou Bob wrote:Look on the bright side, we could be Pompey. Then exiled in 1982 until Allah-Dyce showed it could be done.
Those 11 years were amazing .... though I still fume at the inept way we slid out.
Things go around. But it can take time.

Probably the beer talking, but I have a sneaky feeling we will snap up ALF at the last minute.
Don't know why or how.. I just feel it in my waters

I've been wondering since I read it. They can ONLY be taking him on loan right now, so Shirley we could.ChrisC wrote:Probably the beer talking, but I have a sneaky feeling we will snap up ALF at the last minute.

Oh, purleeese.

They could put Heskey's wage toward it too as he still seems to be foot dragging.
Plus, if he does sign could we swap him & Spearing then ?

The fee for gestede is supposed to be £6m, they couldn't even get a player on loan from villa.
They are still under an embargo despite selling 2 players, they could spend some money to get a replacement but that would put them further in debt.
Rhodes wants out as well but he has a hefty sell on clause benefitting Huddersfield.
Alfs wages are apparently £18k a week. £8k over what they can pay under FFP rules.
No sell on value for Alf either...

At £18k pw I think I'm getting why he's out of our reach too.jaffka wrote:The fee for gestede is supposed to be £6m, they couldn't even get a player on loan from villa.

Only Burnley up here could do that. Unless Premiership in which case Everton, Newcastle or Sunderland fall into the 'Northern' definition but I don't see them fancying him after failing at Cardiff. Hull too maybe.
