Maybe it's just me but I thought that us v Derby might be afforded a little more significance?! And who's the pub league pundit that they've dragged in?Bijou Bob wrote:I hope that's sarcasm! All the best for the rest of the season lads.
Re: Ram Bam, Thank You Ma'am. Derby match thread
Another match that I thoroughly enjoyed.
First half I thought we looked a little bit nervous and apprehensive of this 'great' Derby team that were going to smash us and I think did look the better side, however after half time we seemed to press with more pace and really get stuck into them. Pratley was a big improvement in the second half. Three times I had to be scraped off the roof after thinking we had scored.
When Spearing went down in the box I didn't think it was a penalty nor did I think he had dived. It was a surprise to see him going down the tunnel.
Trotter nearly fecked it up at the end for us but in fairness he did seem to try and really gee himself up after that.
A lot of pluses today. I really liked Amos who commanded his box and has good hands on him, we could have a real gem of a keeper here.
The Prince from his first header when the crowd all held their breath to see how it would go, which he won and then he was just immense. To say he has been here such a short time and did so well is fantastic. If he didn't have something about him, then Juventus wouldn't have signed him.
Madine battled and has good control on him, very good at bringing the ball down with his chest.
Heskey definitely makes centre halves panic and rush, he even worried Carson who tw**ted the ball as far away as possible.
Moxey did very well, he is athletic, brave and certainly committed. He's never going to be perfect but I think definitely above adequate for our level.
Good performances all around, maybe the only disappointment was Clough but he is young and we have great hope and expectation of him and he looks so good on the ball.
Anyway very good day only spoilt by the woodwork and the fecking trains still not running.

A few people have commented on Clough having a poor game. Do you think it is due to him missing part of pre-season and so not fully match fit or is he a marked man?jaffka wrote:Good performances all around, maybe the only disappointment was Clough but he is young and we have great hope and expectation of him and he looks so good on the ball.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.
Re: Ram Bam, Thank You Ma'am. Derby match thread
I think the word poor is to strong and he is still young so will blow hot and cold. A couple of times he was muscled off the ball but other times when he got a little space he does make things happen and he looks so natural with it at his feet.malcd1 wrote:A few people have commented on Clough having a poor game. As you say though as his reputation grows he will be a marked man and he will have to learn to deal with it and certainly not having a full pre season at this stage would mean he is slightly behind the others.
Anyway I like him and think we have a diamond, he has set the bar very high and we have seen what he is capable of, it's just that yesterday it didn't come off as consistently as we know it can but then we were up against a very good side who we had worried.

Bit of both, he definitely didn't look match sharp.malcd1 wrote:A few people have commented on Clough having a poor game. I also don't think the attacking midfield berth he has suited him. He needed to be closer to Madine.
And as John Mcginlay said after the game he needs to get stronger because he was far too easy to knock off the ball.

Careful, think Mavies, more or less the same was said of him.jaffka wrote:I think the word poor is to strong and he is still young so will blow hot and cold. Thing to take into account is the fact we were set up to be a solid outfit. We weren't busting with quality. In lesser games (which there are many) he'll show his potential!BWFC_Insane wrote:Bit of both, he definitely didn't look match sharp.malcd1 wrote:A few people have commented on Clough having a poor game. He had a few decent runs and at one point on the by-line seemed to dazzle past about 4 players ... until he got wellied.
So, he wasn't God's gift, and he definitely tired.
Then Heskey altered the whole rhythm of the game as he replaced him.
I wouldn't be too harsh on the kid though.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
