It's definitely a Super Morass.

Re: Match day travel. Fecking trains.
The work on Farnworth tunnel has been extended to possibly December/January. Is all the other work on the line and stations going to be finished by October? If so why can't the fecking trains run again use the coaches for the Bolton to Manchester part of the journey.
Bring back the Victorians.

Probably because Bolton station doesn't have the space or line capacity to act as a train hub which it would effectively need to in that scenario?jaffka wrote:The work on Farnworth tunnel has been extended to possibly December/January. And also because it probably isn't worth decamping everyone at Bolton station to get on a train when you've already done the worst part of the journey by road.

Must be cheaper then having all of these coaches running and in standby.
The station wouldn't be a hub, it's the end or start of the line. Funnily enough there are other stations that are exactly that.

Perhaps. They've only got two platforms though to service all the Preston/Wigan/Blackpool/Windemere routes. Not sure that would work logistically.jaffka wrote:Must be cheaper then having all of these coaches running and in standby.

Whatever, it has been said that they are making further plans. I would like to think that a rail company would prefer to use trains rather than coaches.

They can't even organise the buses properly. Got one back to Bolton from Picc last week and was last on with a big queue behind me. Heard the poor woman who was in a high vis vest say to driver that they had no standby options and she didn't know what to tell the complaining passengers. Absolutely piss poor. Some faceless wanker fails to plan properly and she gets the grief.

Probably best not to think too logically when it comes to rail companies. They truly do never cease to amaze me.jaffka wrote:Whatever, it has been said that they are making further plans. I would like to think that a rail company would prefer to use trains rather than coaches.
