Charity arm of the club to hold sessions aimed specifically at senior fans
Bolton Wanderers Community Trust are starting a Wanderers Fitter Fans programme in partnership with Senior Solutions.
Targeting over 60 year olds, the twelve week programme will offer the opportunity to take part in light physical activities such as walking football, bowls, circuit training and healthy living workshops.
All will be held at the Macron Stadium in order to engage with supporters of the club and allow for easy access.
The aim of the sessions is to improve general wellbeing, alongside the opportunity to be more active, meet other people, learn how and to lead active lifestyles and how to take a holistic approach to fitness and life.
The first twelve week block start date will be from Wednesday 30 September until Wednesday 16 December from 1-3pm at the stadium.
To book onto this programme or simply to find out more information, please contact Richard Slater on 01204 673 790 or email

Re: for our (errr...) older members??
I'm not far short of 60 (getting there quickly) and although it's a great initiative, maybe 60's a bit too young? I can't watch football on Saturdays as I'm too busy throwing myself around a hockey pitch, and midweek there's the badminton, volleyball, cricket nets....
Hope to be just as active in 10 years; wouldn't mind having a go at bowls but might be frustrated by the slow pace (?). Bottom line, is there anything for those of us still going at full pelt? When I see stuff that's available for over 50's and 55's I feel a bit patronised!

^^ & in one great post the complete justification for later retirement dates. Bravo.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I look forward to the state pension date coming down to 50.
I'll happily feck off then. Already worked 32 years and would stop tomorrow if I could.

Footballers can retire after 2 years, never mind 32, and I bet your job's a darned sight more valuable to society than a footballer, cricketer, singer, actor or owt else that gets mega-wagesGary the Enfield wrote:Aanvalluh wrote:The sooner we can retire the quicker unemployed youths can have our jobs

I don't think that 'footballers' who retire after two years are relying on the state pension. Anyfxcker can retire at anyfxckintime: what you get paid by the state or by private provision is hardly a controversial issue, unless like some, what you were promised aged 20ish fails to materialise, or once pensioned off the value of said pension deteriorates dramatically. Just ask any UK woman aged about 60 or any Greek aged 70 or above...
That's not a leopard!
