Calls for Jamie Thomas and the even younger lad will increase...I'd certainly put Thomas on the bench...
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Pound to a pinch of shit that he chucks Max Clayton in (a) before he's ready, and (b) with way too much expectation placed upon him.

Another from the list of players about whom we were saying "Never in a month of Sundays" not too long ago.BWFC_Insane wrote:Carlton Cole
Wouldn't mind him now, would we?!

between them - £127,463.52p
that's a daft argument! they BOTH have plenty of cash to give them the luxury of waiting to see if anything better than us comes along - and by "anything better than us" (in cash terms) - read, just about anything!
that's like saying the recently sacked boss of the Bank of England is quite likely to take the job stacking shelves at his local Costco cos he is curently not earning anything. he isn't.

A decent shout in the position we are in. Won't bring goals though, but Lennon's basically admitted Madine is playing shite and wants a physical presence. We're not going to be able to afford two, or one who can do both. What a fecking mess.

I wonder if Big Kev would come out of retirement for a one season swansong.

It is worth a try. Neither are earning a penny from football activities right now. They might want more money than we can offer. But I'd like us to at least try.
I think it is preferable that to getting a "not yet ready for the premiership" youngster in, because they can be just so hit and miss. If they are a hit you have the problem again 3 months later and if they are a miss you are fecked anyway.
I'm really not keen on loans to find a main striker. It is a terrible solution. I realise that is where we are, but it should be used to cover right back or midfield, not trying to dig yourself out of a hole in a key position. We've done it with Dawson (at Centre Half), Juke, Le Fondre and now we are trying it again now.
Obviously needs must. But I'd rather we had some experience to bring out our young players in Clayton and Clough when fit.

is it not fairly likely that we have? reports have already said Nolan has actually been in for talks... they seem to have come to nothing. my guess is we simply cannot afford him (and Lenny is said that he's not quite what we're after).

Lennon said to Marc Iles that no talks have taken place with Nolan.thebish wrote:

Different times. Cole has played with Nolan. And is a target man. And Cole and Nolan together might be effective.thebish wrote:lennon said Trotter was gone! he speaketh with forked tongue!!

Carlton Cole isn't very good, but then unfortunately what we have isn't either.

We're in a different time now. I wouldn't mind Ameobi either but a couple of years ago would have said no.thebish wrote:oh - go on then - just one more...

And in further mitigation at that point I hadn't seen Madine play!

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!
One new player up front won't improve anything IMO....We have a team who are soft on the pitch, we get bullied and outfought on regular basis - M Davies is a good player but not captain material, we need a captain who will organise and get the players up for it when things aren't going well.
It's yet another disappointing season already....I'd love to be proved wrong and hope I am, but IMO I can't see how it will be much different from the last one. I know Lennon's hands are tied with regards to finance, but I personally thought that he would have made more of a difference than he has so far - I thought that we would by now have had a team in the NL mould, who are tenacious, physical, work hard for 90 mins and are hard to beat but unfortunately we haven't.

Can't get the criticism of him for the two full-backs (I don't know which one is which). The Spanish LB is a direct replacement for Ream, who we got actual money for, so can hardly be criticised as blowing his wad. Ream going left us with only the up-to-now universally derided Moxey. That Moxey has been turned into soemthing approaching a footballer seems an odd stick to beat Lennon with.
The Italian right-back too was needed given all we have there is a guy who was released by Charlton (and who looks the wobbliest of the current back 4).
So I don't blame him for the full backs.
I remain unconvinced that Dobbie and Heskey were the best use of that cash though.
We need a striker big time. Difference between mid-table oblivion and actual oblivion.
