Oh, he's very relevant
It will be him we thank for years and years of Tory government
Unless the idealists like William finally get their heads out their arses and get shut of him
He's an utter loon

Not in touch with the Southern/Middle England electorate maybe. But loon seems a little harsh.CAPSLOCK wrote:Oh, he's very relevant

He has views you don't agree with but isn't completely outlandish or crazy by any stretch. His desire to weave a more civilized brand of politics must surely be applauded even if you disagree with his political beliefs?

And don't kid yourself its only the home counties that wont touch him with a bargepole
As for the quoted bit, I'll give that a month before he changes his mind on that one, too

My other half and I had a 'Frank exchange of views' last night over Corbyns refusal to sing the national anthem. Frankly, how we still get away with singing a song that urges us to slaughter the jocks is beyond me. Anachronistic sh1te.

"Do" in what sense ? Coz it's not a given, tbf.Enoch wrote:Could we just do that Sturgeon bird?Bijou Bob wrote:Frankly, how we still get away with singing a sing that urges us to slaughter the jocks is beyond me.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

As I said, No, not at all.thebish wrote:Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Not at all: It probably didn't. Empirically it certainly didn't. It's quite similar to a couple of other stories, one involving Lazarus and the other involving loaves and fishesthebish wrote:so, in short - maybe it happened - maybe it didn't...
.. just coz somebody said it happened don't necessarily means it happened, in all probability it didn't.
hmmm... you SAY it certainly didn't
you also - strangely - state that EMPIRICALLY it certainly didn't happen - meaning that the fact that it didn't happen is somehow observable or subject to confirmation by replicatable experiment...
but then add qualifiers like "don't necessarily" and "in all probability" - which would not be necessary if there was the lack of doubt that "certainly" and "empirically" indicate.
so - I'm sticking with "maybe it did, maybe it didn't." I take it none of us was at school with big Dave to know much better - though you have made interesting claims about your life before - so if you were - it'd be a good time to tell us!
also - I did not suggest that "just coz somebody said it happened" means that it necessarily happened - I merely summed up the situation as "maybe it did, and maybe it didn't happen." one person's word against another - and I have no real grounds to pick one account or the other... i could believe either.
a bitter man who feels slighted would say summat like that, wouldn't he
but then - a man in such a prominent posisition would deny it, wouldn't he
even if the photo emerged - you cannot prove the bloke in the photo was cameron...
to sum up..
maybe it happened, maybe it didn't.
It probably didn't happen.
I was talking about what I thought, because I was asked about why I was so certain. Nothing that I said was contradictory despite you spouting a bunch of words which appear to suggest it was.
And no, I was never at school with Cameron... as you so often say "where in my post did I state otherwise?"
And what interesting claims do you question, precisely? I can hardly defend having an interesting life without knowing which bits you are calling me out on, can I?
That's not a leopard!

Re: The Politics Thread
Not that it matters but the verse about crushing rebellious Scots was never part of God Save the Queen/King after it became accepted as the national anthem. And the Scots were pretty rebellious when it was sung.Bijou Bob wrote:My other half and I had a 'Frank exchange of views' last night over Corbyns refusal to sing the national anthem. Re: The Politics Thread
How anyone remotely gives a shit whether someone else sings a song beats me. How they give enough of a shit that it would alter how they'd spend their one-vote-per-five-years is easily enough for me to think they shouldn't have that vote in the first place.
There are plenty reasons to not vote for Corbyn; that ain't one of them.

hmmmm... it wasn't under Corbyn's watch that these "years of Tory govt" were ushered in... that was the safe, steady-as-you-go, say what you think they want to hear, centre of the labour Party in full spin-cycle...

Re: The Politics Thread
I think him coming across as an awkward dick was a greater issue, along with the fact they let the Tories tell everyone for 5 years that the financial problems were their fault and not mostly the banking system, without calling bullshit.BWFC_Insane wrote:But Miliband was seen by the public as 'too left wing'.
