Doesn't seem like we could've done much about their third or fourth...
Re: No'neills - QPR (A) 3/10/15
And Amos is one who seems to be getting away with any flak despite making a couple of mistakes recently. He has made some superb saves as well but he has cost us goals in the last two games...Vertigo wrote:From the highlights, it looks like Amos fluffed one and 2 of the others were crackers, so it's unfair to call the entire team spineless (from what I've seen anyway). Was the overall performance worthy of all the doom and gloom?

Honestly ? - watch it again and tell me that it couldn't have been avoided if:danardif1 wrote:Doesn't seem like we could've done much about their third or fourth...
1. Prince hadn't passed the ball straight to a QPR player instead of a Bolton player
2. Dervite (who is a very poor defender) hadn't gone diving in (twice) and had simply stayed on his feet.
Re: No'neills - QPR (A) 3/10/15
he had what might have been a daughter (grand-daughter??) in tow. nobody except Domingos seemed aware of his presence...Lost Leopard Spot wrote:You had Gove at your mercy, no bodyguards or anything?
Re: No'neills - QPR (A) 3/10/15
I didn't come away seeting at any particular player's effort - but, rather, depressed that we don't appear to be functioning with any idea of what we're doing - no game-plan - no obvious tactics - no sense of how it actually is we think we might score... I think that makes me a bit gloomy - I can't see what it is Lennon is actually trying to do! with bigsam it was absolutely clear - THIS is how we are set up - THAT is how we will go about trying to win the game... I can see none of that with lenny...Vertigo wrote:From the highlights, it looks like Amos fluffed one and 2 of the others were crackers, so it's unfair to call the entire team spineless (from what I've seen anyway). and now he says our game management has to be better... that has to be part of his job, surely?

You're getting old: That's the age that policewomen are these days- 12 but armed and deadly. But even with an alert armed and deadly policewoman I reckon you should have still given his nose a twist or a poke in the eye. (I'm also presuming here, on no grounds whatsoever, that Gove ain't a Trotter).thebish wrote:he had what might have been a daughter (grand-daughter??) in tow. nobody except Domingos seemed aware of his presence...Lost Leopard Spot wrote:You had Gove at your mercy, no bodyguards or anything?

Point 1) They share a bit of rough, or it's bits of rough.

Injuries to key players, new signings, short-term loanees and generally nobody knowing if they're first choice or not makes for a bunch of strangers rather than a town team. Might add in that the main criteria in the sport seems to be players will go anywhere for slightly better wages with loyalty, pride and local connection non-existent. A couple/three Spaniards, two Frenchmen, an Italian, a couple of southerners just here for the beer and probably no more than two or three (if that) having a clue where Breightmet, Darcy Lever or Moss Bank are. Add in a manager who must wonder how long he can pay the team's wages, a massive debt and supporters who dream of past glories. This is your current Bolton Wanderers, at least for now. Face it folks.

Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?

1. quite a good chunk of this team have been regulars for a number of games.
2. i doubt lennon worries about paying their wages.
3. i don't think stereotyping foreign players is helpful - i don't care if they know where Breightmet is.
4. southerners just here for the beer? what does that even mean?
I'm more than happy to give Lennon time. He's as good as we could have hoped for - but he isn't perfect - he's still a bit out of his depth in this league and in this situation, I think - but my money's on him learning... he's not daft... for that we have to give him plenty of rope. in the meantime, it won't be pretty!
Re: No'neills - QPR (A) 3/10/15
Did those things directly contribute to Thomas smashing one in from outside the penalty area... maybe, but what could they do about that finish?Peter Thompson wrote:Honestly ? - watch it again and tell me that it couldn't have been avoided if:danardif1 wrote:Doesn't seem like we could've done much about their third or fourth...

I'm not trying to cover up bad play, you're right, those events led to Thomas being in that position, but aside from miraculously throwing their bodies in the way of the shot what else could they do right or wrong?
Re: No'neills - QPR (A) 3/10/15
Three of the four goals were highly avoidable.
1 - Pisano closes the man quicker and stops the cross coming in from such a dangerous spot.
2 - Amos doesn't fluff his lines like an abject goon.
3 - A cracking goal - maybe defensively we didn't do enough from the short corner to allow someone time and possession in such a dangerous space as the corner of the 18 yard box?
4 - Dervite does the intelligent thing and stays on his feet and not try and be a slide tackle hero.
To think we scored three away from home and got nothing for it. For Shame.
Also, Prince needs to stop sticking his arms behind his back as soon as the ball enters his vicinity. It restricts his movement so much and his ability to get into a better position - all because he doesn't want to give away a hand ball? Check the first goal to see what I mean... I just flat out don't understand it.

Completely agree on that one, Pisano backs off the player far too easily and quickly, needs to be forcing him towards the corner.Dr Hotdog wrote:Three of the four goals were highly avoidable.

Clearly not my fault you missed the apostrophe in Domingos, innit.thebish wrote:Worthy4England wrote:Point 1) They share a bit of rough, or it's bits of rough.

C'mon Tango; it's not 1934.
Apologies to all for my drunken (that home brew is well reet!) outburst last night re M McCarthy.
Trust in Lennon, it'll be sorted soon.

Had we got Mick, we'd be hearing the opposite right now from dissenting fans. "Should have got Lennon!"
We got Coyle when the fans wanted Coyle, and look how that turned out.
Let's just give Lennon some time.
It's remarkable, though, that 20 years ago to the day yesterday we conceded a 90th minute goal to QPR when Dichio gave them a 1-0 win at Burnden.
really not sure where this is coming from... nobody has mentioned Mick Mac on here for ages!! nobody on here is calling for lennon to be replaced OR saying Mic Mac would have done a better job!!

Lenny reckons the ref were "biased"..
hmmm...BN wrote: “He was a disgrace, an absolute disgrace,” Lennon raged after the final whistle. “I have not seen a more biased performance from a referee in a long, long time. He gave QPR everything he possibly could.
“I was so frustrated with that.
“Any 50-50 challenges the free kick would look like it was going to us and he invented a free-kick for QPR.
“It was a really frustrating performance from him from my point of view anyway.
“You are asking me the question, so you can see it as well.”
meanwhile - Pratley reckons the Whites are "soft" and seems to be slightly at odds with Lenny over blaming the ref...
BN wrote: “It doesn’t matter if it was an individual mistake or what went wrong, we lose together,” he told The Bolton News. “To let them back in like that is sloppy and soft.
“They took the lead with a worldie but at 3-3 we just had to see the game out. There were 30 seconds to go, it’s the last kick of the game, and it’s poor.
“It’s a different atmosphere and attitude if we take a point into the international break. QPR isn’t an easy place to play but having been 2-0 up and then 3-3 it’s very, very poor to get nothing and now it’s doom and gloom for the next two weeks.”
Pratley refused to lay any blame at the feet of referee Darren Drysdale, who came in for stinging criticism from manager Neil Lennon.
“It would be an excuse,” he said. “The referee didn’t put the ball in the back of the net with 30 seconds to go.
“From my point of view there’s no point in talking about him. It’s just an excuse.”
