clapton is god wrote:^ Didn't know that! And yes, ESB went some while ago. My last bike (Honda 900 F2) was from ESB but before that I was a customer from the shop opposite the Wryton Stadium, I'm sure someone will remind me of their name, run by two bad tempered brothers. And I had a Kawasaki 250 Samurai from the dealers on Bury New Road many years ago.
If it's the same one, I remember that place, green painted at one time, grubby and stinking of oil and with a dingy street at the side. Walked past it may a time going home from the Palais. Used to admire the American style gear in the Halon gents outfitters down the road a bit. :D

Years ago, Doug Hacking was one of the few places over here you could get Harley's from.
If anyone is considering doing a cbt or bike test or knows anyone that needs to do it, can thoroughly recommend the guy set up on the car park at the rear of Bolton Motorcycles on Ivy Road. Mike Williams is his name, top, top bloke, really knows his stuff.

Bit of bad news for a long-standing pub venue. Used to be a friday nighter for us way back.

“There are a lot of houses around this area but we don’t get one per cent of the people who live here.
There maybe a good reason for that, perhaps you are not catering to what these people want!

I'd be a regular if I lived up there. Great music venue, perfect little side room for bands and decent bar area on the other side. Real shame it's going. Maybe the whole music venue thing was too niche and put the locals off and they lost the bread and butter daily trade.

not long ago someone posted a link to a website where they have local newspaper photos of local people looking dischuffed! might have been Pru?

anyway - there's a corker this week in Newton Abbot

(to be fair - he has every right to BE dischuffed as he was the victim of assault/burglary - but even so - it IS a corker!!)

here's an amusing story...

My Middle son has secured himself a final "technical" interview with tt-games - the Knutsford-based games company who do the rather large portfolio of Lego computer games...

Eldest son tells me he spoke to one of their employees recently and said employee reckons he is often asked why Lego haven't done a lego rip-off of Minecraft - it would seem an obvious move. The answer is that they did... BUT - Lego products have to have no adult content (unlike minecraft) - and in a multi-player online games environment like minecraft you cannot stop people building rude stuff. In testing they found that people were (basically) making huge lego penises all over the place. Lego tried to write an algorithm to search for and destroy penis shapes - but that was a bit hit and miss - and people got creative and started hiding them in other structures... They considered having a dedicated human search and destroy team for penis-structures - but that proved far too costly and time-consuming - so, the idea was shelved!

true story! 8)

As to Hitler, it is well-documented that Mein Kampf made him a fortune – more than 12m reichsmark – not least, Kellerhoff has discovered, because he avoided paying much of the tax due on it. A year after coming to power in 1934, he received a demand for 405,494.40 RM, based largely on book earnings. But he never paid and the following year, was struck from the tax records altogether. “No one has so far been able to discover what happened to the tax man who was bold enough to send him that demand,” said Kellerhoff.

Desperately needed occupation as it is hard to find talent these days (just ask Lennon).

Well argued.

I have it on very good authority that things are just as bad a lot closer to home, if not worse. The system has run on goodwill for years, but the goodwill is running out, has gone or is off long term sick with stress.
