Anyway, Sheriff Seb will sort it all out after the practice he had as head of the FIFA Ethics Comittee. I wonder if he puts that on his CV?
athletics?? pah - bag of cheating bollocks - can we stop putting any of that tedious wank on the telly now?

On the contrary. Give every athlete maximum-enhancing pills, drug them up to their eyeballs, just so we can see what can be achieved.thebish wrote:LeverEnd wrote:Who ironically is the most miserable bastard I've ever seen interviewed. any of you running-types tried relay racing? If this statue is to be believed - it looks quite intimate!

Re: The athletics/running thread
Good session last night. Started with a warm up then 1x 800m sprint (3mins. 24 secs)
Then we jogged to a nearby road to do 3 x hill sprints at full pace with a jog recovery downhill. We did this twice (so 6 in all) and then jogged back to the start of the 800m point and sprinted that again. This time I did 3mins. 15 secs.
Jog recovery back to the clubhouse.
Very pleased.

First post-virus run tonight, just need to get one under the belt. Not sure whether or not to keep it on the flat or to stick the usual hill-bastard in. Could be difficult either way but I need to make a start somewhere.
May the bridges I burn light your way

Why not keep it flat but instead introduce a couple of 30 seconds effort into it? Like a mini fahrtlek.

Doesn't have to be a massive increase, just so you know it's an effort. And you can choose when to do it. Run in the road for a short time if that's easier.

RUN IN THE ROAD!!!!???
I went to run with a club in Leeds, Roundhay Runners, with a massive obsession with road safety. I got barked at for stretching my calves off the kerb while waiting for everyone to catch up and the run leader to give us permission to cross. I kid you not! Someone got shouted at for stepping into the gutter for several steps to overtake on a narrow pavement with good lighting and no cars coming. I felt like I was 8 again. Actually no, when I was 8 it was 'keep up or get lost' at Bolton Harriers!
Suffice to say I found a different club, Valley Striders. Seems much better and has a triathlon section.
Doing a different parkrun Saturday near the uni. Will be full of designer clad students going on about how they got 'soooooooo hammered last night OMG!!!'

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".
