I asked Sir Ian McKellen if was he interested but he wasn't particularly taken by the first team's lack of technical ability.
Apparently "NONE CAN PASS!!!"
What a hero, What a man...... Ooooh, what a bad foul...

This certainly won't happen as ED is refusing , quite rightly at this point, to pour any more cash into the bottomless pit.

People keep mentioning administration, but as far as I can see the only club he's been involved in that went into administration was Portsmouth.throwawayboltonian wrote:Cheers mate, and just seen the confirmations this morning. Worrying stuff, especially Birch's involvement given his history of overseeing clubs in trouble. Let's hope that we avoid administration and the point deduction.
As I've said before, it makes absolutely no sense for Eddie to let the club fall into administration. He loses everything then.
Birch seems to have been brought in because he was the man who sold Chelsea and Leeds, so has experience of negotiating sales of clubs. I suspect that given the BWFC statement it is clear that is what he's here to do. I hope that it can happen quickly, but rather fear it won't....

I agree that it makes little sense, at least on the surface. That said, if the outgoings are higher than the incomings and if Eddie has stopped making up the difference, then the choice of administration has been taken away.BWFC_Insane wrote:

unless I have read it wrong - he didn't lead the club into administration - he was the administrator sent in by the court when they went into administration... no?
and he is well respected at Portsmouth for the job he did... some glowing words of praise here:

Ah yes. And clubs don't appoint their own administrators.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:People keep mentioning administration, but as far as I can see the only club he's been involved in that went into administration was Portsmouth.throwawayboltonian wrote:Cheers mate, and just seen the confirmations this morning. Well I see the point. His arrival means we are in serious financial trouble. However he sounds like the right bloke to deal with that in the ebst way possible, so it's a good thing for me.

spot on. people at portsmouth seem to have reacted - when the dust settled - by saying that he did the best he possibly could for the club... he's not a faceless accountant with no intyerest in football - he knows the sport and he seems to know how club finances work/can be fixed... it might not all be plain sailing - but he does, at least, sound like someone with the experience and tools for the job... well done whoever appointed him.

Bolton are plundering my local club for talent!

Torquay United goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe is set to move to Bolton Wanderers on loan, with a view to a permanent transfer, according to Gulls manager Kevin Nicholson. The 19-year-old, who has made nine appearances for the National League club, has reportedly been on trial at the Championship side this week. Nicholson told a press conference: "If it happens, the deal has to suit both clubs and suit Dan. He's a young man with a fantastic future ahead of him. "The reports I've had is that he's done very well up there. They're very keen on him so we'll wait and see. He's got the build, he's got the physique, he's still developing physically, but the most impressive thing for me is his character, how calm he is." Lavercombe was one of the final players to come through Torquay's now defunct youth academy and made his debut in April, keeping three clean sheets last season.

Good to know.
A propos of very little bar the subject of young goalkeepers, this weekend it's Juventus vs Milan. Juve's goalkeeper Buffon made his Serie A debut 20 years ago yesterday, aged 17. Milan's custodian Gianluigi Donnarumma is 16: he was born in February 1999, two days before Rodney Jack scored a double against us. (And 22 years after I Feel Love, so he probably wouldn't get the joke about his surname.)

I'm expecting a former player, Garath McCleary, to turn out for Reading this afternoon.

I think, given the circumstances, a transfer thread is now a bit pointless!

Bastard! Saw it turned red and got all excited. Thought we might have signed that non-league keeper to play up front.Hoboh wrote:I think, given the circumstances, a transfer thread is now a bit pointless!

With the lack of any spine to the team, yellow maybe a better option for this thread!LeverEnd wrote:Bastard! Saw it turned red and got all excited. Iles Twitter-teasing:
"Unsurprisingly there are no planned additions to the #bwfc squad today. But hear one player may be heading out."
EDIT and just as I type that, from BWFC official Twitter:
"LOAN OUT: @jordanlussey has joined @yorkcityfc on a one-month loan deal. Details: http://bit.ly/1Smn6KK"

Thinly veiled 'I've got a brilliant new title thread and want to get it started before the new owners are installed so I can claim all the glory' post.
