A pet peeve, from us and others. The rags, for instance, have gradually removed all their stand names (Main Stand, Stretford End, Scoreboard End, United Road Stand) - some understandably through circumstance, and I suppose they also renamed the URS after Mr Alex.

But we're as bad - the club doesn't even trumpet the Lofthouse Stand that much, often calling it the East Stand. I know a lot of it is in the hope a sponsor will fill the gap, but (1) they often don't and (2) can't it be both? The Bolton News Okocha Stand? [/quote]

Nat Lofthouse Stand
South Stand sponsored by Franking Sense
The Bolton at Home Community Stand
West Stand (I'm sure that's sponsored by Appliances online, but could be wrong)

So 1 out of 4 then. (I'm not having "Community Stand" as a name.)

If Holdsworth ends up owning us, we could have The One-Night Stand?

So 1 out of 4 then. (I'm not having "Community Stand" as a name.)
"Bolton at Home" is a business DSB. Albeit a privatised offshoot of Bolton Social Services and Council House maintenance etc.

I have NO idea what it benefits them to advertise, nor how much/little they input but that's what it is.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

No, I mean 1 out of 4 stands has a proper name (whether it's sponsored or not). "South", "West" and "Community" don't count.

Ivan Campo or Eddie Davies?
Depending on who takes over, we still have three stands without anything other than compass point names...we could do both.
The Campo Corner?
On reflection, burger van on the way to the ground....we could call it a Campo Van.

I do hope that Mr Birch is playing poker with somebody here, and that it isn't really a case of 'nowt doin''.

Trevor Birch has today, Tuesday 1 December, issued the following update on the current situation at Bolton Wanderers Football Club.

“We spoke to the players today and they remain upbeat and committed to doing all they can to help the club through this difficult time.

“We’re continuing to negotiate with interested parties but unfortunately no one party has demonstrated all the requisite elements needed to conclude a deal yet. The club’s position is increasingly perilous and new investment is needed quickly.

“We’d like to thank the fans for their continued support and all of the behind-the-scenes staff for their continued hard work in difficult circumstances.”
May the bridges I burn light your way

I'm in agreement with your sentiment.

Though I'm thinking maybe he's looked at what was sniffing about, seen them for what they are, and f*cked 'em off. That's to say he's got a realistic view of what's required.

Tough one.

Problem is I suppose that in the land of the blind a one eyed man is king. He may be forced to deal with a less than ideal situation simply because there's nowt else on the table. Rock hard place! I hope it's a bit of brinkmanship to shove somebody to give a bit of ground. Otherwise it's proper grim..

increasingly perilous
All there in two words I guess.

Let's hope the non-playing staff got paid and keep getting paid, as well as small business creditors

I note SportsShield have stopped posting stupid .gifs, presumably just counting up their £100m plus of investment money.........
