Re: Question about a fan takeover
A quick question about the potential takeovers. Has it ever been mentioned how much money the interested parties, particularly the consortiums lead by Stelios or Holdsworth, have got? I'm sure there's not a specific number but I'm just curious as to whether Nixon or someone else has speculated on how much they've got to invest in the club and what their plans are.

Re: Question about a fan takeover
I don't think it's ever been mentioned, and I'm not massively surprised.
I know from experience of doing FourFourTwo's version of the Rich List that it's difficult to pin down or prove people's worth - they don't exactly show you their bank balance, and much of it is misty.
Add in the multiplier that you're talking about consortiums not single owners.
And then consider that much of wealth in modern-day capitalism is borrowed or mortgaged (I wonder how many on here have paid off their house? How many have even been lucky enough to start?). It's been written that at least two of the consortiums have to borrow to buy the club - they aren't cash buyers.
Above all, pure wealth is no indicator of suitability. In those Rich Lists, Eddie was usually listed at around £60m, while I think at one point Carson Yeung was described as approaching a billion.

No amounts mentioned. Stelios bid is dead in the water as it revolved around floating the club on the Canadian stock exchange of something to that effect. Iles said the club did not believe there was any real money behind it.SmokinFrazier wrote:A quick question about the potential takeovers. Nixon is equally as dismissive of Holdsworth's bid saying there isn't any real money and that it is just being done for some free publicity.
As yet according to Iles nobody has convinced the club they have the money behind them to run the club for a year let alone longer.
Re: Question about a fan takeover
I've never believed in any of these bids from the snippets I've heard, particularly not Holdsworth's. We are going down the pan.
