does he have any cash?

edit: it seems that maybe he does - or atleast he did!
THE sky is the limit for this jet-setting businessman.

After buying Blackpool Helicentre for almost 1m, John Disley is incorporating the company into a pioneering 100m investment dubbed “the EasyJet of the charter service.”

The businessman – who name checks EastEnders’ Phil Mitchell as a close friend – freely admits to knowing little about the aviation industry before he bought into it.

But he has got his sights set high and is promising to create hundreds of new jobs.

His brainchild, Disley Aviation, will offer an air taxi and charter service, flying lessons, brokerage, hangarage, events such as pleasure flights, maintenance and city tours.

A fleet of more than 50 helicopters and planes will operate from five sites across the country – Blackpool, Elstree near London, Teesside, Cranfield and Biggin Hill in Greater London.

A flight academy will also be created at each centre, which Mr Disley is going to take full advantage of as he learns to fly.

He said: “I don’t fly, but I am learning!

“Private jet sector has always been for the celebrities, but I want to get people into aviation for the first time ever. I’m trying to make it accessible for everybody.”

Trial flight lessons will be available from 75 for an hour with clients being able to book on-line through a 24-hour booking facility.

Mr Disley also promises to get a couple from Blackpool to London in a private plane for 500.

The ambitious business is set to create around 300 jobs in the next nine months with the headquarters next to Blackpool International Airport.

Mr Disley says the idea for his new business venture came as he was sunning himself on a beach in Ibiza two years ago with actor friend Steve McFadden, well-known for his starring role as Phil Mitchell in EastEnders.

Mr Disley, who has run Disley Estates for the last 10 years, said: “We were just thinking about how we could get ourselves around the country. I’m a property developer so I’m all over the country and I thought a fixed wing or rotary would be a great way of getting around.”

The 42-year-old entrepreneur, who lives in Preston, bought nine aviation companies to build his Disley Aviation empire.

He said: “We can do anything with aviation. I’ve taken the best bits from each company and mixed them all together to create a fantastic company.

“We are the UK’s first affordable charter service. I’m trying to get you from A to B, the cheapest I can.”

Every time I see the Xpro heading I think "Aspro". Probably because the whole thing gives me a permanent headache.

surely when the "money is down on the table" - then that's basically when the club will announce it anyway?

was it Nixon who said administration would happen on Friday? given that it hasn't happened - then something must have changed - yet he won't say so??

maybe he doesn't know as much as he vaguely and deniably claims to know...

He is merely saying no point going into the details of bids until one has progressed with the initial up front cash required.

But given it was Nixon who broke the initial story about cash being require up front...

Also what do you expect the club to announce? No deal will be concluded for weeks, they could announce the granting of exclusivity but I'm not sure if they would or not?

what I expect is that given he went out on a sensationalist-limb and said it was Friday that we'd go into administration unless summat (unspecified) happened - then the least he could do would follow up with:

1) we didn't go into administration on friday as i said we would because the thing I said needed to happen has happened..

OR

2) we didn't go into administration on Friday as i said we would because the thing I said needed to happen still hasn't happened and i was wrong about the consequences of the thing not happening.

The change is that when he said that we weren't getting anywhere with negotiations. And the threat of administration was there be it Friday or this week.

As he says that threat has diminished given the negotiations but until the cash is on the table the threat is still there. But as everyone is saying Birch et al are more confident than they were last week.

he simply made the Friday deadline claim up. (IMHO!) I can't think of anything Nixon has told us that isn't pure speculation/guesswork dressed up as more - or that Birch hasn't already told us or we didn't already know.

For months probably nearly a year he's been saying there was a serious funding gap. One can say that was all in the accounts but I don't recall anyone else predicting this situation.

In addition he broke the news about the requirement of a deposit to enter into an exclusivity period. This was then confirmed by Lennon in his press conference. This wasn't known, isn't usual and was something Nixon first broke in that story.

He was told Friday. Iles early this week. Both may be correct. It may well have been Friday should sufficient progress in talks not have been made. But I really don't care. Broadly he's been more right than anyone else on the direction of travel. He doesn't have to get every detail right, nor would anyone, to be a useful source of information.

If you don't believe what he says I really don't care less. I won't bother posting his views on here.

In my view he is the only national journalist with much clue as to what is going on here. But let's leave it at that.

If that is the case there was very little concern expressed given the severity of the situation. I didn't see stories that we couldn't afford to pay basic bills.

In fact the BN played down concerns not that long ago in relation to the loans and land sale.

So much so that I myself thought Nixon was scaremongering and sensationalising. Sadly he wasn't.
