The debt had been going up ever year for a long time. That was a meaningless statistic. The point was that Eddie wasn't paying our bills anymore.Enoch wrote:So out of interest, why did you think the debt was going up year on year?

I'm confused at the 50 year funding gap that you've missed, Mr BWFCI. When is the last time you could point to BWFC being self sufficient?

By funding gap I mean we didn't have money (self generated or loaned safely) to pay basic bills and operating costs.Worthy4England wrote:I'm confused at the 50 year funding gap that you've missed, Mr BWFCI. When is the last time you could point to BWFC being self sufficient?
Yes I realise we haven't been self sufficient, but have instead relied on Eddie to cover our losses.
But my point was that whilst we all knew finances had tightened and wage bill had been reduced we did not know that there wasn't enough in the kitty to keep the club afloat. There had been mentions of it and the BN went to the club for comment and things were generally laughed off.
I was one of many on here who laughed off suggestions of admin. Nixon has been saying for a year that things were bad and getting worse. As I say I thought he was just trying to generate a story. We all knew things were a bit tricky but I don't think many predicted this situation arising as quickly as it has.

so have most people on here, if not all. in fact - folk on here have been saying that for longer than a year!! keep up Nixon!BWFC_Insane wrote:By funding gap I mean we didn't have money (self generated or loaned safely) to pay basic bills and operating costs.Worthy4England wrote:I'm confused at the 50 year funding gap that you've missed, Mr BWFCI. I haven't seen many on here genuinely talking about the club going out of business. Or perhaps those that did were roundly laughed off (I'd have been laughing them off as well).thebish wrote: so have most people on here, if not all. in fact - folk on here have been saying that for longer than a year!! keep up Nixon!
I can guarantee that if I'd posted the tweets he made earlier this season you'd have been saying he was just "sensationalising" or some such.

fair enough... tell you what, here's an idea..
when we go out of business - then you can post a HUGE "told you so" and I will make the long journey to Bolton and do the town-hall steps routine.
and I'll build you a statue of Nixon out of toilet roll tubes, ping-pong balls and such-like.

The bit I'm confused about is the element of surprise you want to lay at ED's door. Given the 2014 Accounts identified a shortfall and we put in place various loans to cover the fact, I think the surprise is that these loans didn't cover the shortfall (not that the shortfall was a surprise). Given this should have bern known in July at the latest, someone needs to explain how we continued to sign players after that, if we knew there was going to be a gap...BWFC_Insane wrote:I haven't seen many on here genuinely talking about the club going out of business. Some from loan sharks rather than a High St bank to boot.Worthy4England wrote:Given the 2014 Accounts identified a shortfall and we put in place various loans to cover the fact,
That wasn't a clue I guess.

We're agreeing I think. I'm not laying the element of surprise at ED's door. Just that inspite of the extra loans and land sale we are still unable to operate.Worthy4England wrote:The bit I'm confused about is the element of surprise you want to lay at ED's door. And with you on the signing players thing. We were still trying to sign players just a couple of weeks back (until suddenly Lennon was told no with a deal very advanced).

If the Nucleus loan in July wasn't to cover our opex for the season, then we probably shouldn't have been recruiting, but then I guess Lennon might have told us where to stick it...which would also cost us money...
Re: Xpro
I'm not so convinced on that point, unless he managed to make a constructive claim stick. His resignation might help us stay in the Championship, possibly, maybe.Worthy4England wrote:but then I guess Lennon might have told us where to stick it...which would also cost us money...
Any replacement couldn't really make things worse.

Why would it cost us? He walks away, of his own choosing and we needn't spend anything replacing him. Pick someone on the payroll already to do it.Worthy4England wrote:If the Nucleus loan in July wasn't to cover our opex for the season, then we probably shouldn't have been recruiting, but then I guess Lennon might have told us where to stick it...which would also cost us money...
Ok it might cost a small amount. But less than the salaries of the signed players - some of whom are on the books next season too (unless transferred).

Re: Xpro
why are new managers not signing contracts with clauses in them these days to say if they turn out to be shit the club can sack them for free? laymans terms obviously but in a roundabout way; 'meet these targets or else?'

It might not, but I can't recall the last time we got shut of someone without a settlement. And he has been quoted a number of times about "being in the dark" so I was wondering whether he might suggest constructive...BWFC_Insane wrote:Why would it cost us? Aye - he said that in press comments at the time, too, iirc.
