This guy seems to have even more insider knowledge that MarcIles and Richard Nixon put together
in the BEN comments some bloke going by the moniker MyownPOV wrote:More importantly, off the field on Wednesday, 16th December 2015 this could be the day Wanderers go bang. Big day for the future of Wanderers today. If Sports Shield don't find the extra £4m needed to cover the remaining running costs for 2015 that got overlooked (and it seems to have been the stumbling block holding things up) then it is administration

I know. I've already opened Wednesday 16th up and there was a picture of a white rabbit going down a hole!thebish wrote:oh bugger - you're gonna have to seriously redesign your advent calendar!!Lost Leopard Spot wrote:This guy seems to have even more insider knowledge that MarcIles and Richard Nixon put togetherin the BEN comments some bloke going by the moniker MyownPOV wrote:More importantly, off the field on Wednesday, 16th December 2015 this could be the day Wanderers go bang. Re: The Debt.
That is why FFP is such bollocks - it effectively supports the bigger clubs/ the status quo. Our biggest crime was being relegated at probably the worst time TV revenue wise, so not only did our revenue plummet but the gap got bigger. I still do not buy the argument that we were overly profligate - we were competing in the madness of the PL - ordinary players are paid fortunes. I've said before, I think we could have managed the consequences of the drop better but to some extent we gambled on getting back up and it didnt work. What we well possibly never know but are critical in our current predicament is the whats and whyfores of Eddies withdrawal of support - still bit of a mystery to me how we avoided FFP sanctions and 6 months later end up teetering on the edge of financial meltdownWorthy4England wrote:We're sorta/kinda heading down the live within your means route anyhow, with FFP. As for only the largest City clubs being able to compete, that's different than today, how, exactly? I agree with him that there should be a cap on debt, but I'd make it a cap on debt on change of ownership (so owners would have an agreed exit plan).
The issue with salary caps (if such a thing could legally be imposed) is where to pitch them? They won't pitch them at a level that's going to impact one of the big city clubs you mentioned, surely, which means they'd have little impact.
Oh and the penalties for non-compliance with FFP, let's make them financial to fill the FIFA coffers so we can make a few individuals a bit richer...
Like many observers, I think football is totally fooked. There are too many vested interests to allow a change to the status quo.
Re: The Debt.
Didn't we also gamble on avoiding further relegation last season whilst trying to find bona fide investors to take over a going concern? Wasn't the only alternative then relegation accompanied by massive redundancies and the wholesale dismantling of the club's operational infrastructure?StaffsTrotter wrote:That is why FFP is such bollocks - it effectively supports the bigger clubs/ the status quo. Re: The Debt.
You know that lovely little Bournemouth club that everyone's fawning over? Well they ain't owned by a purple-rinsed granny who lives on the seafront.
FFP is essentially restraint of trade: as noted, only the rich can spend. Complete deregulation, well, it doesn't seem to work either. As is boringly often the way, the answer might be in the middle somewhere.

Re: The Debt.
Sorry me no understand. You're saying we "gambled on avoiding relegation"? In what way is avoiding relegation a gamble?? Are you furthermore saying that if we somehow manage to avoid relegation this year it will be a gamble whereas if we go down the future is shinier and rosier because we haven't gambled?Gudnib wrote: Didn't we also gamble on avoiding further relegation last season whilst trying to find bona fide investors to take over a going concern? Hold them celebratory horses just a weeny bit there. t'BN suggests it's Birch's magical short term solution due to a sell off of a large stock of Gideon Bibles from the hotel or similar.thebish wrote:

Re: The Debt.
Maybe I could have put it better. We were skint and faced with relegation last season. The board could have accepted it, had a clearout (a massive one to break even) but they didn't. They borrowed more and brought in Emile and Eidur (and a few others). It was a gamble but they got out of the hole whilst trying to find a buyer.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Sorry me no understand. Does that explain it better?
