as well you might think the warbies have been involved on the board for decades (Im sure chairman roles in past) but have never had the reputation of investing much into the club (rightly or wrongly).

They've had at least one Warby on the BW board for at least as long as I've been following the club (30+ years). It goes back much further: in the 1920s Henry Warburton was club chairman AND the town's mayor.

Spent a fair bit of time myself there in the late 50s, Tango. Can't say I remember the Warby's crew though but I do remember the chants from that part of the ground at the time. Huey Piano Smith's 'Don't you just know it' was a favourite. Remember that?

No, not that Gudnib. I was courting strong at the time and got married in 59 and moved to Yorkshire for a couple of years. I remember the Warbies though and I knew Brian, the bloke who used to turn up in all black and a top hat at games. That scoreboard was real high tech equipment, tin number plates hung on nails at half time to check the scores against the programme.

Yes. I remember the scoreboard well. One of the chants in those days was 'The Happy Wanderer'. You can hear it on the video of the 58 Cup Final. Huey Piano Smith's song was adopted as being a bit less 'square'. It was sung for a number of years by the travelling support often when the opposition had missed a clear chance. £530million would be about half the net worth of Trevor Hemmings. PNE owner, but chucking money (if you've got it) down an ever deeper hole isn't very businesslike.

Why should Warburtons invest? I don't get it. They are a Bolton business but I don't see any reason why that obligates them to chuck hundreds of millions away trying to support the football club.
