Clough and Mark Davies a bit more than limited triers.Harry Genshaw wrote:Entertaining game, shame we couldn't hang on but a draw was probably a fair result.
Amos and Holding aside, at half time they could have all fecked off on Bosmans for me, but 2nd half they showed a lot more character. Feeney easily the motm imo.
They're a limited bunch of triers who are going down, but they gave it a good go today.
I thought Davies had a good game today btw

We're not hopeless. Haven't been all season.CrazyHorse wrote:See maybe I'm in denial/deranged but I think we're staying up. Sure, we're gash but we're not relegation gash.Harry Genshaw wrote:They're a limited bunch of triers who are going down
Bear with me. Of our 10 losses, only 4 have been by more than single-goal margins. For comparison, that's the same number of clear defeats as Birmingham, Ipswich, Wolves and Fulham have suffered, and fewer than Brentford (5 losses by 2+ goals), Rotherham (6), Charlton (6), Huddersfield (7), MK Dons (7) and Bristol City (8). In other words, fine margins.
So, if (huge if) financial stability did arrive and a couple of astute loanees were secured, we might be alright. If it doesn't, and we lose a couple of players, we won't be.
As it stands, I don't think we've got the worst squad of players. I don't think we've got the worst manager. I think we've got the worst situation, but that might, maybe, improve.
Happy Christmas...

Here's an interesting fact. When logged in here, on TW, on my phone, if I string three of these >
together, I lose connection to the TW site and my phone tries to redirect itself to my BT email account, which is dormant, broken, defunct. See, that was interesting wasn't it?

I think we are pretty hopeless. It was a decent second half performance from us. However game as a whole, Fulham had enough chances to bury us by an embarrassing score line.
Clough makes a huge difference to us going forwards. But our midfield was wide open all game.
I can't see us staying up without something significant changing if I'm honest. New players or new manager or ideally both. I don't think we have enough in us as it stands to win 10 plus games second half of this season. That is some improvement required.

Maybe you're right but I don't agree that there is that much improvement needed. We only need to get good enough to climb above three teams ffs.BWFC_Insane wrote:I think we are pretty hopeless. Though to be fair; and no offence like, but if Bolton had just beaten Barcelona in the Champions League final you'd still find something to be gloomy about.

Considering how shit we're alleged to be, and the state of the club off the field, and the uncertainty of the p;ayers as to whether they'll get sold or even paid a wage, you'd think we'd be getting dicked every week. I don't believe there's so much charity in football that *every team* goes easy on us.
I've seen some shit teams, and some of them have worn the shirt of the club I love. We may well go down but this is not an awful embarrassment of a team. Well, not yet; let's see what next month brings.

Re: We flipped the lilywhites' fans, Tango - Fulham (H) 19/1
And another point. The fact we didn't see out a 2-1 today having ridden our luck during periods is entirely down to the complete tactical ineptitude of our clueless manager.
Clough was rightly taken off, he couldn't have done more. But we needed to take him off and fill the gaping midfield that had already been made worse with the change of Spearing for Danns. We just had to see it out. Casado on the left tuck Davies in. 5 man midfield.
Instead, Heskey comes on gets caught out chasing back to fill the midfield gap and gives away the free kick for their equaliser.
It was blatant that Heskey up top with Madine at that stage was crazy.
Lennon is incredibly poor. I'd swap him for any other manager in this league. No such chance like.

A team is a team, it's not a collection of individuals. It doesn't matter what they are capable of with others. Currently, as it stands, they're gash - proper fxcking gash, coz they don't meld with the Bolton borg. They don't meld full stop.
( I see Chungy just scored a wonder goal, his first in a million years - but he's melded, doesn't matter if he never scores again because Palace, at present, are a team).

People are saying we aren't that bad and the like. We've one win in 20 odd. There is a reason for that, and it isn't luck or chance.

And that is coz they don't meld with the Bolton borg, mainly because the Borg Queen is completely unassimilated.BWFC_Insane wrote:People are saying we aren't that bad and the like. We've one win in 20 odd. There is a reason for that, and it isn't luck or chance.

I don't think that's quite what people are saying. No-one is saying we're mint and should be mid-table, just that we don't look as bad as you'd expect a side to look that has only 1 win in 20-odd. If we can keep Clough fit I'm sure we've got enough to start turning some of the huge number of draws we've had so far into wins. I'm nt sure it'll be enough at this stage though. We need to go on a run, soon.BWFC_Insane wrote:People are saying we aren't that bad and the like. We've one win in 20 odd. There is a reason for that, and it isn't luck or chance.

Our squad is more than good enough to stay up, as I would suggest are all the other squads in the league.
it's never more than the sum of the parts.

I'd agree that player wise we should have enough to stay up. But the coaching and management are clearly very substandard.
I do think additionally that a couple of better players would make the world of difference too.
Up front we are terrible, and also our midfield is incredibly lightweight at times.

If you've got a clock in bits and you put it together, all the parts need to mesh, and the clockmaker needs to know how to assemble it, otherwise it don't tick.Enoch wrote:Our squad is more than good enough to stay up, as I would suggest are all the other squads in the league.

At the moment not only are we missing some gears, and a pendulum, but the clockmaker has never managed to repair this model of clock because he's only worked with other brands.

We don't have a team, just a bunch of individuals. The manager hasn't a clue. That's why we are 24th out of 24. It will not get better soon. I'm really really really not looking forward to the Rotherham game.

We have strikers who couldn't hit a barn door if their life depended on it.
A midfield who are too often overran or look lightweight
The manager can't decide on his best back four.
It's way too much to hope that Clough can score enough to cover all the other's shortcomings or that Amos can keep us in games singlehanded.

Re: We flipped the lilywhites' fans, Tango - Fulham (H) 19/1
I think there's possibly enough in the squad to get out of it with a really good manager who knows how to make a team tough to beat and give them belief. Lennon is the wrong man for where we are now. Whether we could get the right man if he left is very doubtful though. It was great to see Clough again, at last a forward who makes you believe something can happen up there.
There were huge holes in midfield and defence today that Fulham should have exploited better. Fortunately they weren't very good. We may have led but given the clear chances we conceded we are lucky to have a point really. Fair play to Feeney today, he was horrendous last week at hull but did very well today.

Re: We flipped the lilywhites' fans, Tango - Fulham (H) 19/1
How I saw us
01 Amos - I need to see it again but I fail to see how he could have been beaten by an un-deflected free-kick from 35 yards that took a bounce on the way in? Made a great save blocking a one-on-one. Generally sound but a few dodgy kicks.
45 Holding - Wow. Is this boy one of our own? Really impressed with him, a cool head on young shoulders. Defended well and kept his position well whilst confidently supporting the attack down the right (including running the entire length of the pitch with the ball at one point). A few decent crosses too.
02 Gouano - Wait until you see his feck-up for their first. All he had to do was roll the ball back to Amos but tried to turn through McCormack instead. Between that point and half-time he was an absolute liability as his head had gone. Much better in the second half, got his head on plenty but seems to lack the peripheral vision required to head it in the vague direction of a white shirt.
31 Wheater - Solid at the back. Good lad.
03 Moxey - I saw this guy's debut at Watford - this cannot possibly be the same guy. Other than for missing a straightforward tackle in the first half he not only defended well but support the attack well down the left. Worked hard and constanly made himself an available option.
08 Spearing - Looked more like the player he was when he was here on loan. Must have been shagged-out when he went off.
21 Pratley - Worked well but with little reward. I'm sure that Scott Parker isn't the player he once was, but between Pratley and Spearing they reduced Parker's contribution to that of a bit part player.
07 Feeney - Worked tirelessly, never stopped, but still has an incredible capacity to frustrate with inconsistency. His low, driven ball to Clough at the back post for the second goal is possibly the best we'll see all season. The ones that he hits high over everyone that go out for a throw, along with the ones that result in a goal-kick ensure that nobody gets to leave The Bok without having uttered, at least five times, "Oh, for feck's sake, Feeney".
10 Clough - If you've never seen this boy play then you need to get along to The Bok at your earliest opportunity whilst you still can. Showed both composure and technique for his first, showed guile to beat the defender to Feeney's low ball for the second. This is a guy that hasn't played in yonks (OK, he played on Tuesday but you know what I mean?!).
16 Davies - Main contribution was to play in Clough for the first but seems, to me, to be becoming more and more anonymous; certainly compared to the player that we know he can be.
14 Madine - When people say that a player has 'put in a shift' this is what they mean. Constantly fouled (all but one or two ignored by the ref) was an absolute nuisance to Fulham's defence. Came close to scoring with a very decent glancing header.
Substitutes
18 Danns - Nothing of note
19 Heskey - Gave away the free-kick leading to Fulham's equaliser.
23 Dobbie - Touched the ball once - passed it to Fulham
01 Amos - I need to see it again but I fail to see how he could have been beaten by an un-deflected free-kick from 35 yards that took a bounce on the way in? Made a great save blocking a one-on-one. Generally sound but a few dodgy kicks.
