But I also don't feel any empathy, in fact after what I witnessed this afternoon, I feel absolutely nothing for that team
I know what you mean. At one time a defeat like that would have ruined my weekend. Now it's a quick "For fecks sake" then I find something else to meither about

Wonder if the fans being behind the team is the only thing that has been instilling spirit. Personally I could never condone bricking anything, but nor can I condemn fans turning on the team. It just might not be coincidence that we then suffered a relatively rather hiding.

It's not so long ago that a Matchday thread would be reaching 30 pages quite comfortably! Now the team are giving us absolutely nothing to get excited about!! :spank: :spank: :spank:

Neil Lennon says the Bolton Wanderers supporters deserved a better performance following a disappointing 4-0 defeat at Rotherham on Boxing Day.

Bolton were backed by almost 1,800 at The AESSEAL New York Stadium and they saw their side succumb to four second-half goals on a blustery afternoon.

And speaking after the match the manager was left frustrated with another disappointing result on the road.

“Unfortunately, we’ve seen it too many times now away from home,” Lennon said in his post-match press conference. “It simply wasn’t good enough.

“As soon as we conceded we seem to drop our heads and make it far too easy for Rotherham to play through us. We lacked fight and character and that is extremely disappointing.

“We needed a big performance and we simply didn’t get one.

“We find ourselves in a really difficult situation, but regardless of what’s going on off the field we should be doing better. We can’t go looking for excuses.

“I felt we were very much in the game for the opening half. We had a good chance when Zach has seen a shot saved, but as soon as the goal went in after half time we collapsed.

“We have to turn it around. It’s a massive game on Monday and we have to try and win it for them. They have been fantastic throughout and we can all understand their frustrations right now. They deserved a better performance than that.

“We’re professionals and we have to do our jobs properly. That hasn’t been happening of late and the second half performance was nowhere near good enough today.”

If we lacked fight and spirit we wouldn't have come back from behind against Fulham or two behind at Charlton. If we were completely spineless etc we'd have folded like a shit deckchair each and every time behind. Which is what we did today, but have we been beaten 4-0 every week, including by teams than Rotherham? No.

We're a poor team, I get that. And this is the Internet, I get that. But it doesn't have to be so simplistic. It is, with all due respect, nonsense to say that we are "spineless, cowardly, pathetic and lacking in any fight or soul". Things are a bit more complicated than that.
As the fans around me today all said we aren't a good team. But we are NOT 1 win in 20 odd adrift at the bottom.

I watched the body language today and they couldn't be arsed. Rotherham simply wanted it more. Before the season nobody would have swapped our squad for theirs and the same is true now. Only our lot have no spirit, no desire and take no responsibility.

Much of this issue lies with totally inept management from Lennon. But the players are also to blame for their lack of effort and grit and determination.

We don't lose every game 4-0 because actually for brief periods when things go our way our players can produce. But the lack of backbone continually catches up with them. At half time someone said that all Rotherham needed to do was keep going in a scrappy game because eventually our spineless lot would capitulate. So predictable. We just handed them 4 goals.

He has to take some responsibility, yet never does! Neil Lennon selects the team to go out there representing BWFC.Its now his team..Why the feck does Medo get nowhere near a Matchday squad?Spearing/Pratley and Mavies look a shadow of what they were, why sign 287 right backs when we,re crying out for a Striker!! Bobbins and Pesky never were and never will be Strikers, and Madine has stolen half a seasons pay! I could go on!

Aye. Disappointed again to see Woolery or one of the other young strikers weren't worth a place on the bench. Medo must have chatted to the wrong bird in fannies or something

The Rotherham fans I sat with were inpressed how good the BWFC support was even at 2-0 down. It was what followed that turned the fans on the team.

I expected the fans to be on Lennon's back after his weekend shenanigans but they sang his name. God knows why. Even after a furst half which saw our tactics based on the idea of kicking it up firld as hard as you can and hopefully the wind will keep the ball in play, the fans still clapped the team off.

It was what happened after goal 2 that saw things turn toxic. Players gave up. I think only about 5 players went to applaud the fans at the end.

We are down. What I want to see is Lennon gone. Madine should get nowhere near the first team ever again. Ditto Heskey. Give Woolery a chance. My big fear is this current lot wouldn't even hold their own in League one or two.

Because the only way he can now salvage a career from his future is to turn this around. I don't think he can, but if he doesn't, his career in management might be fatally damaged in England.
I think his other way out is to stick at it until we finish imploding. He can then walk away pointing at the mess and say he tried to help but it was such a basket case no one could save it. I was very good to stick by them through this as many would have walked away from what was an impossible situation. Meanwhile, the rest of the world will be shaking their heads wondering how we racked up nearly 200m debts and what could the poor chap do when they couldn't even pay the wages...

The only decent tactical decision (from his viewpoint) he has made in his entire time here.

Hotdog, you tease.

Edit: seen the YouTube one. Hmm. Amos isn't quite as good as everyone reckoned/ hoped he was, either.

Look again, i've edited the post - our Official YouTube Channel (yay!) has just uploaded their version.

Check out Dervite. He heads it clear at 1:01, stands about to admire how far it went and is then caught out via a lofted through ball a few seconds later. I'm embarrassed for him. He's pathetic.

To paraphrase Lennon, whatever is going on off the field and off on the field as well as what's going off off the field, and what's up down the hotel, is not good enough. None of it.
That's not a leopard!

"Bolton 'til I die...", at least the fans in attendance did themselves proud on that clip.
