At the time we signed Baptiste £28k a week was being banded about! Would,nt surprise me if true,as us and Baptiste had just vacated the Premier League!bobo the clown wrote:A fair enough income though given that we were supposedly retrench in at that time. This was the era of financial woe which saw us signing players at salaries with which other clubs couldn't compete. I remember Derby's chairman complaining at our spending power when we signed Baptiste.boltonboris wrote:£7k per week apparently, so I'd be surprised if he is.. Is it 50-50%? The BN quote doesn't mention being paid in full:CrazyHorse wrote:I'd imagine that paying some and not others is a pretty strong case of discrimination with severe repercussions. Plus the union wouldn't be too impressed either, particularly considering they've paid half of the wages themselves.
So yeah, I reckon Medo will have been paid.
That percentage could be 15%, or anything up to 50%. In fact, considering they still haven't been paid for November, it could be anything up to 100% (with the PFA picking up November's tab).Wanderers will confirm today they have paid a percentage of the playing staff’s December wage, which will be matched by the PFA.

I honestly believe there is a real good player in Medo and Lennon is wasting the chance of us having a strong midfield with Davis and Spearing and Vela!Iles claims Lennon doesnt rate him yet he has never played him in a league game!
Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
lennon must have seen him in training, unless medo has gone home and nobody's noticedjonnycooper wrote:I honestly believe there is a real good player in Medo and Lennon is wasting the chance of us having a strong midfield with Davis and Spearing and Vela!Iles claims Lennon doesnt rate him yet he has never played him in a league game!

I agree with this, I think there is a decent defensive midfield player in Medo given a run of games & the right attitude.jonnycooper wrote:I honestly believe there is a real good player in Medo and Lennon is wasting the chance of us having a strong midfield with Davis and Spearing and Vela!Iles claims Lennon doesnt rate him yet he has never played him in a league game!
Saying that not many other clubs have come in for him

There'd be no actual, legal discrimination if we chose to pay some & not others .... assuming we weren't stupid enough to not pay all of one race or religion or age or colour. But it would lose us any PFA support, so not be a great tactic.CrazyHorse wrote:I'd imagine that paying some and not others is a pretty strong case of discrimination with severe repercussions. So yeah, I reckon Medo will have been paid.
It would also allow others to claim they've lost faith in us as an employer and so be able to rip up their contract (though less sure that other clubs would be allowed to sign/play them). So even those we did pay could use it as an exit strategy.
So we COULD do it, but it's unlikely.
I'd certainly like to see us actually, y'know, USE the squad we have. So, added to Medo (assuming we aren't holding back from a pay-clause threshold on how many times we pick him) there's Wilson & Pisano plus a good few others who could still do a job. Then Woollery and Thomas maybe from the reserves.
I've just seen Boris's point about Medo. Fair enough but tbf there's a 'chicken & egg' thing here. I think I'd be showing a negative attitude if I'd played not a minute in over a year.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

presumably there must be some kind of penalty incurred by the club for not paying wages - or all of the wages? otherwise all clubs would selectively not pay the players they wanted to offload who were still on long contracts?

Some actual sub-standard news for us all! We're getting Connor Wilkinson back next week after Barnsley declined the chance to keep him.
We have dropped our standards but he will still not be good enough is my optimistic prediction.

Not sure if they got their full wages or not; but I think that whatever amount they did get was 50% paid by the PFA.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Is it 50-50%? Sorry yeah, that's what the BN report says, and what was implied by previous stories. But I haven't seen that they've been paid in full, that's all. Not sure if it matters legally/contractually - well it must matter, but In The Grand Scheme Of Things. BN seems confident that it's enough to stop the players terminating their own contracts and walking off, which is at least something.CrazyHorse wrote:Not sure if they got their full wages or not; but I think that whatever amount they did get was 50% paid by the PFA.

A colleague of mine played for Chester with him. Apparently he's an absolute bellend and has delusions of being Gerd Muller!LeverEnd wrote:Some actual sub-standard news for us all! We're getting Connor Wilkinson back next week after Barnsley declined the chance to keep him.
