Will Lennon come out and accept any responsibility for today's result? :whack: Absolutely not!

If he does, the Town Hall steps beckon for me! You know the rest.. :hang: :hang: :hang:

I have to ask this...for anybody who went today. Were the players putting effort in, like they did against Blackburn? Or was it like the Rotherham match?

Tried for 20 minutes. Then gave up. Quite literally.

Thanks. Got my answer then, mostly like the Rotherham.
Normal service resumes, I think they were in the spotlight against Blackburn. They are just yellow bellies

Opening 20 we were great. All over them.

Then it's like we just...stopped. It was ridiculous. Midfield was dire for the next 70 minutes, to a man. Davies, Vela, Feeney - no urgency, poor positioning, poor decision making. Pratley - Joke of a captain.

Strikers got no service or help at all. Just as well that our back four performed, actually, quite well, because Huddersfield walked through the middle of our midfield at will.

Doesn't look good for a gaffer to be outmanoeuvred by someone whose first-team management experience doesn't yet total two months.

This. And Lennon did nothing to stop it. Vela, Pratley, Feeney and Mark Davies all gave up. We needed a change of shape but Lennon as usual was oblivious.

Agreed. Amazing that neither Danns nor Spearing got a shout, and the Silva-Holding change was bizarre, if not downright irresponsible. The back four was the only unit performing to standard. Changing that to stick the sub-par Vela at right back, to say nothing of the fact that Silva was a waste of a shirt today, was absolutely stupid.

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't? I imagine there wouldn't have been widespread delight if Danns or Spearing came on to chase the game.

I do think it's notable how Lennon seems to have stopped making substitutions. Feels like Twardzik, Dobbie etc are as much pine-riding space-fillers as Rachubka.

The change was very obviously needed well before they scored. Everyone in the ground could see it. Vela and Pratley were outnumbered and aren't dominant midfield players by any stretch. We needed someone else in there. It was obvious from before half time.

After 25 mins we remembered we can't score and they realised that our midfield wasn't bothering to close down or track back. Everyone could see it bar our wonderful manager.

So he's condemned for not making changes, except for the changes he DID make .... which were shite. Have I got that right ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

What do you mean?? what in your head does a dominant midfield player need to do?

Did you go today? Because everyone in the ground could see how much better Huddersfield's midfield was. Pratley and Vela are not midfield players in the sense they don't cover the ground, don't win the ball and neither are great distributors. They were just there. And Huddersfield simply dominated them with ease.

I must say the logic of taking Holding off rather than Vela is beyond me.

He's condemned for not seeing the glaring problem that was so blatantly apparent after 30 minutes play it was embarrassing, then making a change that only made problem worse.

It was like a bad version of Owen Coyle.

Huddersfield came well drilled and with a plan. We went out without any shape or direction with a non existent midfield just hoping we scored early doors. That is literally the limit of Lennon's plan.

I don't doubt we needed a change of shape. I do doubt that you personally checked that "everyone in the ground could see it", although this appears to be an increasingly unquestioned home of unsubstantiated hyperbole. Surprised to only be four points from safety considering we have an invertebrate squad with the league's worst manager.

In all seriousness, I do agree that this is a match we lost through managerial inability. Switching a right-back for a winger was a reasonable idea but it seems to have existed in a vacuum.

It was that obvious. I didn't need to check. Everyone knows it. The substitution was ridiculous. But more ridiculous was not changing things before or at half time when it was very obvious what was going to happen.
