Re: BW Supporters Trust
Right, as far as I understand what I was reading,
We won't be 'buying' the club.
The supporters trust will not be able to influence what will happen in the next 10 or so days if no one buys it.
They would be pining their hopes on any future owner being arsed listening to them.
Only if the club goes tits up, players leave and all assets are flogged off would we have any chance of fans owning and running the show or at least having a strong voice.
Not optimistic to be honest, a little prayer for a decent new owner/owners seems the best hope.

Onanists. Deluded onanists. Self serving deluded onanists. That's the interim management and interim steering group.
Hmmmm, I wonder how many of the 'interim' founders and 'interim' members of the steering group end up on the actual steering group and board?

Re: BW Supporters Trust
Hmmmmmm, mixed feelings about the whole thing.
Thought the chaps from Portsmouth came across well and showed what can be done with a unified group.
That being said, our current circumstances are probably closest to the first time we went into administration. When they took over the club they had 2 contracted youngsters, not a £15m wage bill.
Wasn't overly impressed with Christopher Peacock, lots of nice soundbites but little substance or realistic objectives. Maybe I'm being harsh on him but he seemed obsessed with putting together a "credible bid" to purchase the club.
All in all though, I'll be joining. It might be in vain but at least I'm trying to do something rather than sitting on my arse and moaning.

Oh I'd be happy to chuck a few £ in if there was a realistic aim, not too sure there is though.Loyal White wrote:Hmmmmmm, mixed feelings about the whole thing.

Birch was there but wouldn't speak about the Trust as it could constitute a conflict of interests. The guy who set up the meeting apologised for Birch being unable to talk to the meeting.

Interesting tweet slid up the page a bit in from the start. It alluded to London based foreign money and a possible offer. I do think it was Iles who tweeted it.

Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

I'm sceptical that we have 60,000 fans willing to pay £50 a yr...TKIZ! wrote:Very true, Sir.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:It's living in New Mills... I've met your type before.

We're all a bit strange and perverted here. Think it's in the water.
Back to the Supporters Trust, seems like not a lot is going on other than to suggest say if there was a £50 fee a year to be part of the Trust and we had 60k fans that we'd have £10m to reinvest.

Re: BW Supporters Trust
Whether or not, wouldn't £50 x 60,000 be £3m ???
Mmmmm. Glad we have such safe hands to fall back upon.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: BW Supporters Trust
I was shocked by the quid plea for Suite costs at end. Quite bizarre how Chris kept repeating how accommodating BWFC has been even though it hasn't mentioned anything on website or social media of event. Everyone appeared to be under the impression the Trust had got suite for free in exchange for 1000 potential refreshment customers.
That was not the right way to end meeting & I felt awkward walking out with no change on me. Also disappointed how they used Trevor Birch as bait, especially as they made it clear he couldn't speak. So why put him on the running order sheet an hour before event starts?

Re: BW Supporters Trust
Just for clarification ... who "wasn't there" ?
Who is 'Christopher Peacock' ?
What, honestly, does a disparate bunch of concerned but ordinary fans expect from a Supporter's Trust ? It reads like they're hoping to create a cooperative of some sort.
How does £50 x 60,000 = £ 10,000,000 ?
What is the 'BBC Periscope' ?
What is Gary the Enfield's favourite on-line porn site ?

I can answer two of those........
'I' wasn't there.
I don't have a favourite.

Re: BW Supporters Trust
Nothing good will come of this. At best there'll be a nobody given a seat on the board with no power or influence over anything or at worse they'll manage to raise the ten million quid (excellent maths btw) and someone will do a runner with the money.
Most likely there'll be a massive fallout and the whole idea will die a death in a few months time.

Can't agree really having watched the meeting yesterday online. A supporters trust can only be a good thing especially given those starting it seem to be doing things properly.
We are miles away from being able to say what the trust might look like or how involved they might be. But the idea that not having one is better I think was comprehensively put to bed last night. At the very least it is a voice for supporters. If you are worried it isn't your voice, then simply get involved.
Clearly lots are misunderstanding and thinking that genuinely this trust could takeover the club imminently, we'd have to sink a lot further for that to happen, but the basic premise of supporters organising themselves to either be a lobbying force or have some say in how the club is run can only be good surely? I mean it's success depends on who ends up running it and their skills but better something than nothing surely?
I agree with most reservations put forward. But there isn't an argument for not doing it. If it fails little is lost apart from some people's time. But surely to god has to be worth a go?

I for one wouldn't be against the trust taking over the Club, providing there is no hidden agenda!
