If we are selling players I assume that the club doesn't think anyone is coming in with money in the immediate future.TKIZ! wrote:From Alan Nixon.....Bolton. Sheff Wednesday. Mark Davies on brink of shock move. More in paper tomorrow. If not ... on here.

Best hail a cab then!
Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
700k and lose his wages? It's not a brilliant deal for us but ill take it. He's not half as influential as he should be and he's probably due about 4 months + out fairly soon given his injury pattern.
Uma mesa para um, faz favor. Obrigado.
Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
Sad to see him go, a player who I think unfairly got the moniker of being 'inconsistent' due to not making several amazing runs per game where he'd beat 5 or 6 players which neglects to take into account the fact that he'd often do the basics very well, often having the best pass completion in the team. It's a shame, but obviously unavoidable and if it means we're more likely to keep Clough, though I imagine he won't be around long either then I'd take that.
Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
in what sense - given all the fevered doom and gloom and oft-trumpeted warnings that we will have to sell everything - is this a "shock" move?

In a nutshell for me.Beefheart wrote:Sad to see him go, a player who I think unfairly got the moniker of being 'inconsistent' due to not making several amazing runs per game where he'd beat 5 or 6 players which neglects to take into account the fact that he'd often do the basics very well, often having the best pass completion in the team. People say Mavies doesn't do enough, but you can't expect him to be Lionel Messi in every game. It just doesn't work like that, especially in a team composed largely of average-to-poor players.
He is our best passer and our best player, and can spot a run a mile off if a striker actually makes one. Unfortunately, few of his teammates are at his level.
We're losing undoubtedly one of the players who could have kept us up, as well as one of the few players who are actually entertaining to watch.
Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
One part of me thinks he's capable of being a match-winner on his day, but those days are few and far between. Another part thinks, this is a relegation battle, and he ain't a battler. So take the money and run.
Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
Hmm, I disagree with that. I think he is a battler. I've seen him throw himself into tackles numerous times this season. He isn't one to shirk or hide away from the ball. He always wants it.Dr Hotdog wrote:One part of me thinks he's capable of being a match-winner on his day, but those days are few and far between. Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
Given what little I've seen of him but going of reports, I give you a pic of an influential Mark Davies.
Good ain't it!

Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
Yeah, throwing yourself into tackles is one way of highlighting your positional sense ain't up to much either. He does always want the ball, but when he's got it there's no-one on his wavelength to pass it to. He is wasted in this team and might flourish elsewhere, where there's a bit of movement and intelligence alongside him.Jugs wrote:Hmm, I disagree with that. I think he is a battler. I think Sparky is a cracking player and one (in ideal world) I'd like to keep!
He's a luxury player, who on a good day walks through teams, but he is on a whack of a wage = Needs must!
Can't help but think one of the youngsters will come in and actually improve us, give us some grit, then again, could be replaced by Trotter!

^^ I've just been a little bit sick Plymouth.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

meh - I'm undecided... I've seen him throw himself into tackles - but at least as often I've seen him give away the ball - shrug his shoulders and make no attempt to win it back...

See I think the criticism of him is unjust at times.Jugs wrote:Well anyway. Looks like he's going, so welcome back Neil Danns!
