This is 100% where I'm at. Thankful for all the good times, but they must also take the blame for this feckin shambles.plymouth wanderer wrote:thebish wrote:Harry Genshaw wrote:Agreed but then neither is proposing a statue to Eddiethebish wrote:I have to say all the ire and bile against eddie and the insinuations about PG's poor health being made up is disappointing me a bit... it doesn't feel helpful or just to me.without him, the town would have missed out on much awesomeness and national newsworthiness and profile... there are worse candidates for a town statue!
And with him, we may not have a club to support!
Listen, I'm still confident that something good will come out of all this. I mean no ill harm towards ED and Garty. but... the way the club has been run, particularly since we got relegated, has been nothing short of diabolical! Blame for me, sits firmly at they're feet!
And no!!! it does't mean I'm not thankful for some of the triumphs that went before!

Re: The Debt.
I'm not entirely convinced that ED was putting a concrete £1m/month in.Prufrock wrote:I'd hope so!Worthy4England wrote:See I'm not fully convinced at that last bit yet...I'm fairly sure he would be aware of the direction of travel - fck me if we cottoned on then I'm not putting him as that stupid. Do you not think they'd have also had a conversation that went along the lines of "Phil, I'm stopping putting money in at date X. From then on, you'll need to have in place a model to cover the operating expense"?
However, assuming it took place, that conversation either took place months (if not years) ago - in which case I'd have been checking to see how we going, given I was on the peg for £1m per month; or, it took place v recently, which is wholly unrealistic.
More generally, the specifics of what he knew aren't really important. As you say, we cottoned on to the direction of travel, so he knew we were losing f*ck loads. If you're prepared to cover that (as he had been for years) then great, hero all round and statue coming. If you're not prepared to, then fine, but don't go authorising Keith Andrews getting a 3 year deal on Prem wages, or Amos this summer. He may not have known what each was getting, but they were getting it within a budget he must have known about.
If I'm sticking up £1m per month, I'm finding out why, and if I don't want to do it any more, I'm keeping at least an eye on how the cost-cutting is going!
Can anyone work out what percentage (or what total figure) the interest etc on ED's loans were as a total of our debt? And, a bit like when they back-date bank charges and PPI, as to impact that had on our debt "rolling over"?
Looking at the paltry figures that are actually pushing us over the edge (ie, rather than the armageddon-inducing £200m headline, but the small unpaid tax bill and £3m loan) I wonder whether ED simply gave Gartside a remit, and only now is seeing the true extent of the f*ck up and has had enough. Like, really enough. Or, rather more bizarrely as I suggested some time ago(Ithankyou), that they see this as the only plausible exit strategy for ED to write off the monumental debt and still be given some pocket change.
You see, I really struggle to think that ED simply woke up a couple of months ago and said "f*ck em". It seems the most likely explanation is a major derailment of an ongoing plan, or shocking and unexpected financial news.

There was a 48hr deadline for Deano to find the money declared on Monday was there not? Presumably he's not...

apparently there wasn't - or at least it didn't start on monday - and also - even if there was - the 48hrs was only the amount of time bgefore they started "taking steps towards"... so - no, we're not!CrazyHorse wrote:How so?thebish wrote:no. we're not.CrazyHorse wrote:So are we going into administration tomorrow morning or not?

Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.
Re: The Debt.
Is Nucleus the Wonga lot we put up the family silver for? I'm not having that PG was given that kind of control without ED's sign-off. Either ED was signing off on a wage budget that could bear Amos (whether he knew specifically what Amos was getting or not) or PG has had to bump that budget somehow. Given ED's position was clearly, protect my wealth, lose no more, I'm not having it that PG started taking out Wonga loans we could never pay back (because he weren't cutting costs to levels we could afford, we were signing bloody Amos) against assets. Not a chance that went through without ED knowing.Worthy4England wrote:That's the point I'm making he might not have "authorised" Keith Andrews getting anything. I'd have expected Gartside to authorise what Keith Andrews was getting and Amos this summer, within whatever budget he knew he had to get to. Certainly in the case of Amos (which is a good one to consider) we're fairly sure by that point ED had said he was stopping putting £1m per month in - so either ED said go out and do it (doubtful in my mind), or PG figured the deal he was going to put in place with Nucleus would cover any shortfall from ED stopping putting money in. It clearly hasn't.

Well you know the article it refers to. I've no idea how well Iles knows the players earnings but I suspect most took it at face value. I get the impression (& sorry if I've got this wrong) that you see it as some veiled criticism of Freedmans time here.Enoch wrote:Quoted?Harry Genshaw wrote:Quoted by Iles last week.Enoch wrote:Source?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:he signed Dean Moxey who is now held to be one of the better-shod squad members.
