On the plus side, seven different players have scored for us on our travels this season. Light smattering of applause to the first who can name all seven.Jugs wrote:He hasn't scored an away goal yet anyway.LeverEnd wrote:Clough missing is a big loss. I think we should suggest terminating his contract by mutual contempt.Jugs wrote:Dreadful performance by W4E.

I'm even tempted to swap him for Trotter.

I saw Welly welly one in at QPR. It was our third of the game; enough for at least a point, you'd think.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:On the plus side, seven different players have scored for us on our travels this season. I'm at home with a sick child today, so I've had time to dredge up more buzzkill.
17pts from 26 games = 0.65ppg. I reckon we'll need about 30pts from the remaining 20 games to stay up (1.5ppg - close to play off form).
It's the equivalent of winning every other game between now and May. In practice, we'll draw a few - let's say 6. So we'll have to win 8 of the other 14, giving us a run-in of something like P20, W8, D6, L6. Hats off to Lennon if he can pull that off.
Arguably, given the (almost) equally poor performance of the teams immediately above us, the side finishing 21st might need fewer points than c.46. But, it's been around that mark in the last 2 seasons and Peterborough went down with 54pts in 2013.
On a brighter note, we might win the FA Cup.

All fine, but we need to assess how hot the competition is. Might I suggest you check league tables from similar times in previous seasons - Statto.com is good for this (change the season with the pulldown at top right, then the date where it says "final table" on the left) - to see whether the drop-dodgers's current pace is typical, better or worse than usual? Might give us a better idea...TonyDomingos wrote:17pts from 26 games = 0.65ppg. I reckon we'll need about 30pts from the remaining 20 games to stay up (1.5ppg - close to play off form).

I'd do it myself - and still might - but I'm at home with two sick kids. (No, really. And I'm working. Multitasking is easy.)

Love Tomo's at 1'02" - I was right in line behind on the Paddock, gorgeous curl with the outside of the left boot – and Browny's at 2'11"
Tomorrow, I'll accept one going in off Wheater's arse as long as we win

And the answer is: yes, this is the slowest pace at this point for the last decade. 21st-placed (ie not drop-zone) McDons have 23 points; after 26 games of previous season, the 21st-placed teams have had (going backwards from last season) 26, 25, 25, 27, 27, 27, 24, 27 and 26 points.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:All fine, but we need to assess how hot the competition is. It's not a massive difference but hey, we're extrapolating. And qualitatively, it looks like there's a few other teams struggling.

it's a 3pt banker surely? what with Freedman being so utterly and totally incompetent...

Rotherham are currently 21st with 21pts from 25 games. As you suggested, I looked at the team finishing 21st for each of the last four seasons and their points tally after 25 games.
2014-15 - Rotherham had 26pts; finished with 46pts
2013-14 - Birmingham had 29pts; finished with 44pts
2012-13 - Barnsley had 21pts; finished with 55pts
2011-12 - Barnsley had 33pts; finished with 48pts.
So, this season, Rotherham are well below the average of 27.25pts from 25, which would imply the team finishing 21st will need fewer than the average 48.25pts required to stay up. However, Barnsley also had 21pts from 25 in 2012-13; that season, they had to reach 55pts to stay up. Interestingly, they were bottom too after 25 games, but then went on a run that saw them secure 34pts from 21 games - more or less what I think we need to stay up.
More to follow after I've fed the sick child!

Er, I looked at the wrong league table for this season! MKD are indeed 21st on 23pts, not Rotherham.

He banged home a few for us too. He's a goalscoring defender, and tbh I'm tempted to put money on him scoring first tomorrow.jonnycooper wrote:Matt Mills has 5 goals for forest so far this season!
