74 to win - thought it was going to be really tight after the first innings - hopefully, it's not.
Re: Cricket - proteas
11-0...
this could be over before tea-time tomorrow, I'll wager!

Cheers Bish. Not so this morning. Had a lie-in until 10:30 then went for a run. When I arrived home my guess was that they'd have seen our tail off and that their openers would be in. They were 40 + odd for sixthebish wrote:some spot-on predictioning there, Bruce!Bruce Rioja wrote:Well, for a weak and inexperienced bowling attack, my friend, they seem to be doing quite well.thebish wrote:nahh - plenty of batting to come - and a weak and inexperienced bowling attack...Bruce Rioja wrote:Balls. 202-for5. This is going to be pretty tight at the turn.

Home boys are 188-1. Not our best start ever then. Is it the wicket? Only time will tell, but we could do with a wicket or two for sure.

S.A 421-8 at lunch. Still in the balance. Could do with a quick end to it but De Kock is on 85.

stat interlude...
South Africa's 475 is the lowest all out total when three batsmen have made a hundred. The previous lowest was 494 by Australia v England at Leeds in 1926.
Usually when a team has three centurions, they are not all out (only 30 of 150 occasions have they been bowled out), so the lowest in any innings is 393-3 by South Africa v England at Lord’s in 2008.

85-2 in reply. Compton apparently very unlucky to a ball that hit the dirt and stayed there, no bounce.

318-8 at tea is better and we're now 157 behind with two wickets standing. Not beyond us if we get a grip of it.

Re: Cricket - proteas
Well, we got well and truly tonked in that one. 101 all out and a more than pathetic batting display, so was it the pitch that beat us in this one?.
Still, we won the series and go home with the trophies which ain't bad.

Lost this because we didn't bowl well at all during their first innings. Let them get the big score.
Was always difficult on this pitch from there.
A good series overall. Need to sort out the top of the batting and for me we still lack a proper spinner at times. Longer term also need a replacement for Jimmy as he can't go on forever.

Some spritely scoring by us in the ODI today.
