Lennon out!

^ Much as I like the bloke, I'm now in the same camp. If we out him on gardening leave and give Phillips a go, it costs us no more and we can't do worse than bottom. Some really strange decisions are being taken at the club at the moment I'm struggling to understand any of them.

Irony is the one appointment the fans chanted for is the one that has done the most damage to Bolton Wanderers.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I never wanted Lennon. I didn't want Freedman either. If, after Coyle, we had gone down the 'McCarthy route' I think we'd be alright now, still in deep financial shite, but up in the top half of the table or even promoted. (I'm awaiting Enoch's comments about female relatives and dangly bits).
However, even after Freedman, it was still recoverable. Lennon is shit. We really do need to get rid of the tosser. I mean, if we can't afford to pay our tax bill what difference does it make if we're a bit poorer but rid of him?
Answer: all the difference in the world. Sack him, bollox to the financial consequences because we'll be even poorer under him.
To be fair from the point Coyle left us in this mess it would take a very good manager to recover things, possibly only an exceptional one.
I think Lennon has given up a while ago personally and think he is totally useless in many respects. I do think he and Freedman were clearly misled to the real position the club were in when appointed. I saw the Bolton news say Freedman was promised a top striker signing before he joined, either Ings or Rhodes, but clearly that was pie in the sky.
Disappointing things is wed have been as well off just appointing a very cheap option as manager as I don't think they could have done any worse. I bet we've wasted lots bringing Coyle, Freedman and Lennon here for very little in return.

I reckon BWFCi for Manager and Peter Thompson as assistant. Think of the fun we could have on here.

Eh? Ings had only been at Burnley for a year at that point, and couldn't get in the team.

What is it you think he "can" do that he isn't? Something that doesn't require him to be better than he is (Coyle didn't maximise set pieces; almost the only good thing I can say about the useless clappy-handed prick is that he tried.)BWFC_Insane wrote:Exactly this, better worded than anything I said. Lennon is not good enough. There's no evidence he's not trying his best.

Think Freedman tried to sign him at some point hence the interest. It was reported in the Bolton news this week.Prufrock wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Irony is the one appointment the fans chanted for is the one that has done the most damage to Bolton Wanderers.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I never wanted Lennon. I just don't get the impression of a man trying to do all he can. By his own admission we didn't practice set pieces 'much' throughout pre season.Prufrock wrote:What is it you think he "can" do that he isn't? It seems a little unfair that in the last few years they've had Austin, Rodriguez and Ings!

The lack of set piece practice doesn't show he doesn't care unless you think we didn't practice them coz he couldn't be arsed? Much more likely that he didn't consider that a priority. Shows he's not good enough, not that he doesn't care.

Re: Lennon out!
Freedman has made this claim about Ings before and it reeks of BS to me. We were (laughingly) linked with Rhodes by the BBC briefly during the height of Venkys bonkersness but nobody took it seriously.
Fair play to Burnley and their scouting of the lower divisions. Rodriguez, Austin and Ings fetched in over £21m for them

Not forgetting that we rejected Modric (on a free iirc) along they way coz he was too small...£30m there, but we'd have let his Contract run down or summat...Harry Genshaw wrote:Freedman has made this claim about Ings before and it reeks of BS to me. Freedman was clearly promised more than he got. I think there's little doubt about it. Like Lennon what he got he didn't use well.Harry Genshaw wrote:Freedman has made this claim about Ings before and it reeks of BS to me. What I would say is that were Freedman backed to bring in loan players he identified in Dawson and Juke permanently we'd have made the top 6 most likely.

Re: Lennon out!
Oh aye I don't doubt he was promised more than what he got but his claims about Ings smack of revisionist thinking to me. Nobody, not even your mate, linked us with Ings at the time. Now he's been a success it's easy to say "Ooh I was after him you know" & hope that everyone forgets against your own staffs advice you blew what little money we had left on Jermaine bloody Beckford.BWFC_Insane wrote:Freedman was clearly promised more than he got. Re: Lennon out!
Dougie Freedman was a piss poor manager here. Please can we not forget that. We sacked him for him for that very reason. In no way was he hard done by. He signed some right shite.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I think he feels absolutely powerless to it.. He has a pool of players to pick from, who he doesn't believe to be good enough.. Whether they're his players or not.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I think you'll find that is more like he's long realised the futility of it all. Look at his body language when he first came and now and compare. He used to almos kick every ball on the touch line. Now he barely moves from the bench.
The way he talks, his general demeanour, none of it screams passion for fighting tooth and nail for the club. It all screams that he really doesn't want to be here, to me at least.
He probably wants to walk away, but is very aware that his future career is hanging by a thread. I'd be pretty depressed and not be bouncing around in his situation, even if it is enough of his own fault the situation he finds himself in that he gets little sympathy from me.
He's not the right man for us, that's clear - but I do have a degree of sympathy for him

Re: Lennon out!
Pretty much how I feel. No one currently believes in the players, not even themselves - hence the shite on the pitch. The right manager could get more out of them, though I'm not convinced if it would be enough given where we are right now.boltonboris wrote:I think he feels absolutely powerless to it.. Morning. Our assistant manager Steve Walford is on press conference duties today. He'll be previewing the @eastleighfc tie from 9am. #BWFC
Am I reading too much into this? Is it usual that Lennon doesn't do the press conference himself?
