Can anyone shed any light on the Supporters Trust voting in a new Chairman - Richard Hurst?

If so, this is a shocker given that he is mates with Big Phil and Brett Warburton.

I'm not a member but I guess if it went to a vote and he got most of them, then that's fine.

He's not won a vote though, it appears he has been appointed by some of the other shadowy members of this set up committee.

few observations.

- other than a basic 'anyone but ED', why are people seemingly so keen to be quickly sold to one of these consortiums - you know v little if anything about them. Their seeming unwillingness to take on a smidgen of existing debt or obligation or guarantee future funds, doesn't fill me with much confidence as to their financial standing and intention

- seems clear that sports shield are the only guys willing to talk to Iles and he's become their mouthpiece. Strikes me as odd that all the pressure and expectation is on the club to clarify what its position is on this and that. Putting aside the stunning naivety to expect that in a commercial negotiation, why has Iles not asked the various consortiums to go public with details of their bid and intentions. So SS have threatened to walk - other than it reduces the field, can anyone really say whether its an opportunity missed or bullet dodged

I'm not sure why you would think any of the consortiums would drop their pants in order to allow themselves to be bent over and screwed by the competition. Bit naive don't you think?

Anyone? - yes, there will be certain people who can.
Me? - no, I don't think I have the necessary inside knowledge to choose either side of that question. But I have a gut instinct it will be a bullet dodged.

I note however that Sport Shield have only 'threatened' to walk away. They haven't actually walked away.

It isn't a case of anyone other than ED. Davies doesn't want to own the club anymore. And as such without new ownership there isn't a future.

Davies hanging around is not an option. We aren't selling from a point of strength with time on our side. There isn't enough money in the business as it stands to navigate to the end of the season and Eddie has made it clear he's not making up the shortfall.

Nobody knows who is best to sell to. However break it down. The board who have more access than you or I have recommended sports shield as the best option. That should have led to a period of due diligence but instead Eddie has changed the goalposts once again. So the best bid in the view of the Bolton board is threatening to leave the negotiating table because Eddie keeps asking for more. One might want to ask, why? And what he is asking for. If he wants a pound and the ongoing financial commitments met and sports shield did this in the eyes of the board why is Eddie then moving the goalposts again?

This is the same board who have overseen the omnishambles of the past year or two - I wouldn't be overly concerned about who they recommend as a best option, they clearly don't know their elbows from their arseholes.

^^Same as Eddie Davies.

I have no confidence at all in those running and owning the club currently especially so of those acting as 'advisors'.

However if demands were met and a preferred bidder recommended then due diligence should sort out whether there is a genuine takeover on the table. Not getting to preferred bidder status then ramping up the demands once again.

I agree with those who say we are hearing one side of this story. But then Eddie isn't exactly forthcoming with information to the public!

Not getting into the ED arguments again save to say ED has made nothing clear, it is conjecture as to whether he would utlimately leave us high and dry. I agree about his bargaining position.

As regards your 3rd para - thats just repeating Iles latest, which I'll just take as deano whispering in his ear to try and create some pressure on ED.

I think you might be being a bit hard on Birch (if that's who you're referring to as "advisors"). As an advisor, he can only make recommendations, surely? He can't guarantee they'd be accepted by the decision makers...

We don't actually know whether demands were "ramped up" - sounds like it from what's being discussed, but that's only "Bolton News understands..."

Birch has done more in 2 months than Gartside did in the last 10 years

I have no idea how the role that Terry Robinson is performing can be adding sufficient value to have been worth appointing, but I do have more confidence in both the role and the person of Trevor Birch. I don't think he's a stooge of Eddie's, he strikes me that he is concerned for the club (the business) rather than the owners and directors (the people), which is what is required.
EDIT: I see others (who can type faster than me) ^ agree with that assessment too...

Birch is paid by Eddie Davies. Therefore his mandate is to do what Eddie wants. Not necessarily the best for the club. I don't think he's a shady character. My issue is that he is reporting to Eddie not the board.
