Explained here.

Our transfer ban does not allow ANY signings. So no frees, loans or suchlike. Nothing. Unlike other clubs who were restricted to frees and loans ours restricts everything due to non-compliance.

It isn't that we've breached FFP. It is that we haven't submitted our accounts because they cannot be signed off by directors, because no guarantee for the future can be made.throwawayboltonian wrote:The one thing that confuses me about our current embargo: is it because we've breached FFP? Or because we're currently under offer for a takeover? If the former, why does ours differ from e.g. Forest's, Fulham's etc?
I guess somewhat similar to failing to attend a drug test or suchlike. We may well be compliant but we've not turned up for the test.

I think it is that we have fallen foul FFP in not giving the appropriate guarantees about future funding of the club - and that is simply BECAUSE of the current uncertainty over the future takeover of the club...
(caution - this might be bollox!)

What a complete balls up. So while some Championship clubs are signing players for £9,000,000, we can't even sign someone who's willing to play for free.

(Major caution - this might be even bigger bollox than the bish's*) (*= caution, not bollox)Jugs wrote:What a complete balls up. So while some Championship clubs are signing players for £9,000,000, we can't even sign someone who's willing to play for free.
It might have something to do with the fact that he knows that he can't sign up as explaining why he made such a generous offer in the first place. I've heard of Formula One racing drivers driving for free and even some who paid for a seat, but I've never known any footballer at a professional club playing for free. I doubt it's ever happened. Do disabuse me of this silly idea if I'm wrong, but currently I don't think I am.

I share your scepticism. It's a bit like when folk make a philanthropic gesture toward their fellow travellers whilst they dial the local rag to tell them what they're doing.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:(Major caution - this might be even bigger bollox than the bish's*) (*= caution, not bollox)Jugs wrote:What a complete balls up. if that's the cynical case... then I would have loved to have seen his face as the club says - thanks, Shola, fortunately there's a loophole that enables us to take up your generous offer!

maybe we can still pull it off, pretend to be the club, capture it on camera and get it on YouTube, and donate all the clickhit payments to some worthy cause like, errr, buying the club.thebish wrote:if that's the cynical case... then I would have loved to have seen his face as the club says - thanks, Shola, fortunately there's a loophole that enables us to take up your generous offer!

So, if we haven't breached FFP, I'd like to know why our punishment for simply not submitting a bit of paper with some words is somehow worse than QPR spending the GDP of a small country and sticking 2 fingers up at the Football League

Because without the piece of paper nobody can tell if we are compliant or not. So we could be way over. Or not.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:So, if we haven't breached FFP, I'd like to know why our punishment for simply not submitting a bit of paper with some words is somehow worse than QPR spending the GDP of a small country and sticking 2 fingers up at the Football League
It is like not showing up for a drugs test as an athlete. You may have just forgotten but equally....

Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
So to take your analogy and run, baton in hand, with it, I shall rephrase AT's question. Why is it that Boltonia Wanda having forgotten to turn up for her drug test is banned from all competition for six years when Queenie Parkranger who deliberately took the drugs in front of the race officials only got a slap on the wrist ban of two years?BWFC_Insane wrote:Because without the piece of paper nobody can tell if we are compliant or not. You'd be better off putting that one to Rio.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:So to take your analogy and run, baton in hand, with it, I shall rephrase AT's question. Partially because once we rock up with the piece of paper we will be unbanned immediately assuming that we are compliant.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:So to take your analogy and run, baton in hand, with it, I shall rephrase AT's question. If not then clubs who were over would have little incentive to submit their accounts for inspection I suspect.

according to "reports"!!
Preston are in need of a winger and have been linked with a move for feeney along with Charlton but it appears that wages will be a big stumbling block for Preston.

Psssst Preston, there's this guy name of Shola. Not quite a winger as such, but wages aren't a problem....thebish wrote:according to "reports"!!![]()
