I thought they answered this one last night pretty much along the lines of

1) There's three of us at the moment, there were 7 originally. We're X, Y and Z (Can't recall their names)
2) When it's set up none of us will be standing for election so we couldn't tell you who'd run it in the future because it hasn't been decided...

Did I miss something?
Yes. You missed the bit where it was asked who would be choosing the Steering Group and on what criteria will the chosen be selected for. The only answer forthcoming to this repeatedly asked question is "over 300 people have expressed an interest on being on the Group and they will be chosen for their relevant skill sets". But yes, we know that already but who exactly will be doing the choosing, and how exactly are they determining what relevant skill sets are required?
Nossir, didn't miss that. Just don't really care about it. Bigger things to worry about.

I think people are wondering with the lack of clarity about those supposedly forming this organisation, just why are they doing it, supporters or glory chasers or someone who fancies being Gartside mk2?

I kept on asking the question and getting evasive answers. I asked who is going to pick the Steering Group members and using what criteria? - and got the woolly answer 'we' will pick people with the 'correct skillsets'.
bwfcst site wrote:: On Saturday before the MK Dons game, the initial steering group of the BWFCST (Christopher Peacock, Mike Smith, Ian Bridge, Jonny Eckersley and Jamie Gregory) met for the first time to continue the process for formally getting the Trust running so that the subsequent elections can take place as soon as possible.

The first thing agreed was that Richard Hurst will act as interim chair of the steering group.
- so no 'fan' involvement. No vote for 'interim' chairman, and the skillset is that he's a businessman who knows Phil Gartside:
Richard Hurst - chairman of Richard Threlfall Group, nominee for 2016 Club Captain of Bolton Golf Club, and board member of BW Free School (alongside Phil Gartside and governor Brett Warburton)

I can just imagine the meeting when, for first time, the leadership of the non-interim steering committee will be voted on, with no doubt the ballot totally influenced by official nominations from the 'interim steering group'. It's how it works in North Korea too. If George Orwell had written a book on how to set up a "fans' trust" with links to the old regime its storyline would unfold in a similar manner to the reality taking place...

I'm not sure how that makes it "not independent". I imagine that many folk with the skills, interest and experience to do that role might know Phil Gartside and other members of the board. It is the nature of it.

The current board won't be running the club soon (either we'll be in admin or have new owners) so it certainly will be independent.

It does of course not look all that great for the Supporters Trust, but that is the issue with these things, you often get only a few capable and willing people who all tend to be swimming in the same pool.

Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

Valid points all Insane but even a sniff of Gartside or Warburton involvement and I'm out

I never thought a takeover by North Koreans would be likely to be more democratic!

I don't immediately see a problem. He would be voted upon by Trust Members at the Trust's inception. If the Trust members didn't want him, then off he pops...as I understand it.

I think this is the least of our worries, really.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
