I am not so sure he is. He is suggesting something may happen soon. To me it sounds as likely sports shield are pulling out.
Just to help me here, is that with your most optimistic head on?
If there was a hint that a takeover positive announcement was close I can't imagine Iles would be being so cagey about it. But then I thought it was happening Monday.

48 hours it'll be.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I saw Iles was defending himself against nobheads lashing out at him for a lack of news! He can only report what he hears, the fact that things are constantly changing is feck all to do with him.

As for the optimism that Worthy mentioned, I'm with Insano on this. Why would anyone be optimistic about anything? I think it's far more likely the deal falls through and the club goes over a cliff than it actually happening. Even if it does happen then as Mt Soze says, SS don't exactly fill you with confidence do they.
How about that for optimism?

The supporters trust begins to seem a bit sinister to me. Hint here is that Eddie is seemingly delaying to let them get things in place. A few days after they appointed someone who has been on the free school board alongside Eddie Davies. On its own that seemed ok, but are the trust being used to allow the current board to retain some control whether directly or indirectly?

I think you must admit that its not exactly good PR, or entirely appropriate, to do it during such an important time as this - given the Sword of Damocles nature of the tax bill and impending takeover, wouldn't you though?

I'm pretty sure most of us here aren't allowed to take holidays as and when we please, but must fit it in around the needs of the business. I certainly have to do that. I'm not sure the suggestion is that he shouldn't take any holidays.

I take 'em when I need, because my proximity to any particular building isn't generally an insurmountable problem. That said, phone doesn't get switched off if there's something big going on. I really don't see why he'd need to be in Bolton, given that others have allegedly been employed to do the negotiation and there is a Board employed to run the Club. Him being in Bolton doesn't generate a higher level of the Club's ability to meet a Tax payment.

Admittedly, this being 2016, its a bit more sophisticated than communication by carrier pigeon.... but he is pretty much Bolton Wanderers (or what's left of it) being the overwhelming majority shareholder. Given we're telling staff they're probably getting laid off (understandably, though I'm sure that's cold comfort to them), and that the clock really is ticking on our future (something has to precipitate that tax bill being paid) I just think its piss poor timing. Which is nothing new.

It can't be a help though, different time zones, delaying decisions, etc etc.

We are at a critical junction here, a few days of the window left, presumably decisions on selling players rest on what Eddie decides to do about the takeover.

Frankly beyond anything else it looks bad, bad to the staff who may not get paid, or worse still be laid off, bad to the fans who are, with good reason, worried.

I don't begrudge the man as many holidays as he wants, but surely to god in such a critical situation he could wait till this mess is sorted first? He only has to decide if Sports Shield can be named as preferred bidders or not. Then he can go away and enjoy his sunshine during due diligence.

Until a takeover happens there isn't anything to be positive about. When one happens it will at the very least allow for the club to look towards the future.

If you want positivity, then I'm positive that Sports Shield is a better option than nothing. And currently we have nothing.

Oh, hang on, yesterday you were saying that this 'fans trust' bunch had the fiscal backing of some heavy, heavy movers and shakers - what's happened to that? Has that been sucked into the four-hour time void now as well?

No I didn't. I said "apparently they have some local backers". Which is merely what has been said on social media.

I also said I was wary of the trust and remain so. I personally struggle to see them having a serious amount of finance and also struggle to see them being in the right shape for a takeover that is needed urgently now, not in a few months time.

Iles is reporting that the Trust are trying to get in to the running. I think them being involved with any new owner is very different to what they currently seem to be trying to do. And it shifts the emphasis away from creating a voice for fans initially to something entirely different.

As far as is reported the only people to put money on the table for a deal is the Sports Shield fronted consortium. I fully accept they may be a bunch of asset stripping corporate terrorists. But they've hung around since November now and have put money down. To me that is a sign that perhaps they may be our best bet. I say bet, because everything is a gamble but we do need to throw in our chips.
