I'll be very glad of the opportunity to replace him as captain, and not have him automatically selected in the heart of our team, but for me this all rests entirely on who we have lined up to bring in to midfield. We MUST have somebody lined up. If not, it's a really bad move.

1.) He is not good enough this season to warrant his first team place. Getting £4.5m, whilst offloading him to our relegation rivals seems good business.

Selling such an important player with the end of the window nigh and no proven replacement brought in, will IMO be a very poor decision.

We sell him and make a cock up similar to last season when we failed to replace Anelka, well I will fear for the rest of the season.

If this happens, I would be sad to see him go as he is class.. certainly ahead of what we currently have. I would not blame him for leaving as I know what it is to give your heart and soul for your team, only to face abuse. It was intersting to hear people saying Basham was Man of the Match vs Man U when if Nolan had put in a performance like that, he would have been abused for contributing little to the team.

I hope we sign someone of equal or better quality before next Tuesday or else chances are, we will be relegated with a midfield of Muamba, Basham and McCann.

Sure, sure, he's just a player and BWFC will go on...maybe there is no room for sentiment in football but *I* am not "in football" and I do feel sentiment, I'm a fan of Nolan. I'm a fan of what he represents not just on the pitch but off it too. Where his colleagues and betters (skill wise) are getting arrested, pissed and shagging sluts, he's a bastian of what I'd have aspired to be as a lad, a model professional who takes it all on his chin and keeps trying. He may not be the player he was, but I'll never forget some of the incredible goals he scored for us.

Absolutely. If he wasn't going, we'd have been all over it saying "He's not for sale at any price".

Well, can hardly blame him if he wants to leave, but I thaught this year would be the year he became the goalscoring midfielder he once was. If we have someone good lined up then 4.5 mil for someone who hasn't hit good form for 3 years isn't all that bad (would still like more for Nobby though), if we don't bring in someone decent then Megson will be crucified and our season may fall to bits.
