Yeah I think it’s a tribunal fee if not on a pro contract. We tend to give our youngsters away anyway so not sure what difference it might make!Enoch wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 5:34 pmApparently twice. Came on for 1 minute against Walsall, I may have missed that.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 5:22 pmHe's played for us once. In a game we lost. Does it matter?
Is there a compensation angle?

It only matters in the sense that the other clubs probably wouldn't be interested in him at this stage if he was because they wouldn't be able to pick him up for a pittance at a compensation tribunal. Not only that but if he was signed to a professional contract with us and went on to suggest that he might be a potential superstar between now and the end of the season, we'd have been in a position to name our price come the summer.
But as you imply, this is all very speculative because he's only played the once, and even if we were in a position to negotiate to a figure that we found acceptable, it's unlikely to be an earth-shatteringly high one. I suppose, though, it might have been the difference between receiving an amount that pays the wages for a couple of months and an amount that merely keeps the hot water taps on a little longer.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Connell's performance on Friday was pretty much the only good thing which has happened at this club all season. If he's allowed to leave on a free to sit in Burnley's reserves I think I'll be forced to officially join the pessimist contingent.

Not sure its a question of "allowed" is it? He's reportedly yet to sign a professional contract here and his scholarship deal runs out in the summer.

Parky trying to sound hopeful. https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/1 ... jury-woes/
“Getting rid of the embargo has given us the options of bringing one or two players in. We are working towards that and if it happens, great, but if it doesn’t we have the bonus of the youngsters adding to the squad.
“As always in this situation you have managers saying ‘yeah, he can come to you but we’re not letting you know until the last day because we’re trying to get someone in’. Others we have spoken to have got two or three options. I met one yesterday and it would be a great signing for us if we get him but he has got other options.
“Quite a few teams got their rearranged games cancelled because of the transfer window but we have got to make sure we focus on Reading.”

Well yeah, ultimately it's obviously the boy's choice. However, you would think that if we were to offer a reasonable contract and some assurances that he will get first team football that would be an attractive proposition for him. Given he's not signed, I am not confident that we have put an offer of that nature on the table.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 10:44 amNot sure its a question of "allowed" is it? When dealing with Ken, the only place "confidence" and "contracts" are close together is in the dictionary.

I just read on Twitter that Spurs are sending a scout to watch Luca tonight. It now seems almost inevitable his head will be turned.

In which case, since he was good enough to be included in our first eleven, which K.A and Parky obviously knew, if he goes for buttons, whose fault will that be? Just wondering.The_Gun wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 12:52 pmTrue dat.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 12:40 pmWhen dealing with Ken, the only place "confidence" and "contracts" are close together is in the dictionary.

I’d have thought that anyone with ability will be being advised by their agents to get the hell out of Bolton as fast as they can. And I frankly can not blame them.The_Gun wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 12:27 pmWell yeah, ultimately it's obviously the boy's choice. Well he starts tonight. Nothing like playing first team to build your profile.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 6:11 pmI’d have thought that anyone with ability will be being advised by their agents to get the hell out of Bolton as fast as they can. Or raise your tribunal fee.
What’s the point in academies at our level?

There aren't going to be that many players who are good enough before signing a professional contract to court attention from the Prem. This situation is a feck up on Bolton's behalf, as Connell now appears to be our best player.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 7:49 pmOr raise your tribunal fee.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
I just hope he has some sort of affiliation with the club, enough to sign a deal with a release clause in it at least. To lose him for a nominal fee would be a massive kick in the bollocks, worse than anything else that’s gone on recently!
Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
I agree completely, we absolutely cannot afford to lose players like this for nothing. The hope I'm hanging onto is the fact the boy's been at the club since he was 8 and now looks like he'll get a good run in the first team.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 8:34 amI just hope he has some sort of affiliation with the club, enough to sign a deal with a release clause in it at least. The BN reporting that we are after Leon Clarke (33 yo) from Sheffield United. Wiggin also in for him. "Ironically", he's available because of the Goal Machine's loan to the Blades.

Christ. First Donaldson, now him. It's like a deathbed clipreel of has-been Blades. Is Tony Agana still available?TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 12:09 pmThe BN reporting that we are after Leon Clarke (33 yo) from Sheffield United. Wiggin also in for him. Mind, beggars can't be choosers. I'd sing his name if he came in and it worked.
But he won't. Because it looks like he may have a choice between a club outside the relegation zone who've just been taken over and a club in the relegation zone with a shot-shy team, a defensive manager and a chairman renowned for consistent issues of non-payment and late payment. Frankly, unless Parky has some kind of mesmerism (which he curiously elects not to use on players at his disposal), the only players we might attract are ones that nobody else wants, ones that are from lower divisions and desperate enough to give it a go, or idiots.

Just checked and he never played for the Blades. (Side note: if anyone can name all five teams he played for over here, they deserve applause or pity.)Enoch wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 1:56 pmVaz Tê is only 32.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 12:56 pmChrist.
