He was and still is the favourite in terms of betting odds which is what that article is referring to.Lord Kangana wrote:http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/foot ... 10362.html
"Snubs"? Oh do f*ck off.
"Favourite"? Oh double f*ck off. Perhaps the true favourite Roy Evans will now throw his hat in the ring?

And where does it say that?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

He makes Megson seem light hearted. Do we really neeed to go back there again ??
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

As I mentioned earlier - insiders at Forest (who had both in their time) reckon that he makes Roy Keane look like a pacifist.
And it does not matter whether you are on his side or the other - he can still pick a fight a day

Ah sorry missed that. In terms of record at this level he seemed pretty unblemished unlike many others mentioned. Agree though, I think we do have a good enough playing squad, so would hate to see half of em leave due to some loose cannon clearing em out.bw@bw wrote:Harry Genshaw wrote:I haven't heard Billy Davies' name mentioned for a while. The Independents take on Andrews alleged comment at the Irish camp is at odds with the Bolton news. According to BN Andrews said something along the lines of NOT wanting Roy Keane and much preferring McCarthy.Lord Kangana wrote:http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/foot ... 10362.html

Cant see why anyone would want to play for Keane. Billy Davis does have a good record but as mentioned by Bobo he's a cantankerous thorny bugger but then isnt old rednose down the road a bit like that.Harry Genshaw wrote:The Independents take on Andrews alleged comment at the Irish camp is at odds with the Bolton news. If as seems to be implied Big Mick OGS and Curbishley are all out a very small pool is getting notably smaller.
We're all out of tried and trusted unless you count Davis in but I doubt Gatside would fancy the potential hassle.

Davis' record is no better than Coyle's, FYI.

Of course, as Andrews wouldn't have got anywhere near the Ireland squad had Keane picked it. And he'd be just as found-out and answerable to Keane at our place.Harry Genshaw wrote: According to BN Andrews said something along the lines of NOT wanting Roy Keane and much preferring McCarthy.

Rioch who came to us on the back of disastrous spell at Millwall?Bruce Rioja wrote:Please - desist. Point me in the direction of a single person that wanted Roy Evans. Best record? I felt the same about Allardyce's appointment as I did about Rioch's.BWFC_Insane wrote: Bit like Roy Evans was the popular choice with the best record, yet Allardyce was appointed.
You were happy we appointed him?
And Allardyce?
My memory is of Roy Evans being the favourite - I'd have appointed Spackman!

Why doesn't PG be patient as he said he would. Wait for applications to come in rather than chasing up and down the country targeting managers? If you chase a manager surely PG's negotiation hand is at a disadvantage, a case of PG selling to another manager instaed of a manager applying for the post and then interviewed - in which case we have the upper hand on the negotiation table not the other way around
Leave Lee, Phillips and darby in charge until the end of November and then see who has applied for the managers job and start interviewing, get someone in who wants the job enough he can be bothered applying. If nobody does apply then fine, start looking around and approach someone then, but leave the doors open first, see what happens
Vinnie Jones is considering comming back into football - he's another Roy Keane but with intellegence!

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
I'm not sure why comparing Coyles historical record with any manager is relevant.
Over his last 54 games with us we averaged less than 1ppg, conceding just about 2 per game on average.
We are looking for someone who can improve on that.
Simple as.

I'd have sacked him for negligenceBWFC_Insane wrote:I'm not sure why comparing Coyles historical record with any manager is relevant.

Coyle in then?
After all, his long term record would suggest he'll turn it around if we're going by those parameters.

Clearly if Eddie thought that was going to happen he'd not have sacked him.Lord Kangana wrote:Coyle in then?

Those are the stats the new guy, whoever he may be, has to improve on.
If Coyle had maintained anything like his career average, he'd still be here.
As it is, we need someone to improve on his last 18 months of abysmal form.

He doesn't strike me as a good negotiator either, which is my worry right now. He looks desperate whenever I clap eyes on him, body language is cagey and comes accross like a Conservative MP (always hiding something)CAPSLOCK wrote:What does Gartside know about running a business, eh?Barefoot Wanderer wrote:Why doesn't PG be patient as he said he would. Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
Word is that PG has asked Eddie Davies for 20 million and will guarantee promotion. If true then maybe PG is trying for a higher calibre manager wise?
