Re: Will we be at the races? Cheltenham (h) Saturday 16 Jan 15:00 KO (GMT)
This is the one, Cheltenham are out of form - not won in 5 apparently ? (yes, I know that we are normally the gift that keeps giving etc.) but tomorrow is the day it all clicks, 2 x more new signings, including a Craig Dawson type new CB (wishful thinking) 4-1 Bolton. That's the spirit Bertie Oh fo...

Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread
Saw that as well, ties in with this on Twitter https://twitter.com/AgentMcGee1874/status/1350102985716740096 I wouldn't normally get excited about anonymous accounts posting transfer rumours but there's not much else to do right now... This character (who confidently announced a fortnight ago that ...

Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread
Quotes via Jack Dearden's Twitter from Evatt's pre-Cheltenham presser. I'm sure they won't change anybody's mind if it's already set. Because of how the summer went we are having to do more than I would have liked in January For many reasons we were unprepared. The nature of the recruitment wasn’t g...

Quotes from Evatt's presser. Via bwfc: "We’re progressing well and we’re hoping that we have some movement in the window soon; we’ll be doing business right up until the last day of the window." "For me at the moment, we’re not controlling games with possession the way I want us to. We need to be be...

Iles reports the latest COVID-19 tests show clean bill of health at Bolton - the two who were previously isolated are already back with the squad.

No, I genuinely hope you’re not turned away. I’m genuinely sorry you’re not enjoying it. I’d genuinely love to see you enjoy yourself. After all, I’ve not seen it very often in a decade or so on this site. :D “Pit of existence” is an interesting phrase. Existence is the key, I suppose. Our club near...

Each to their own. We when equalised at Barrow I yelled so loud I could barely talk for a day. Goals are exciting. They're also more likely with more shots. That's all. We're 17th in the bottom division and 16 of the teams in that division have scored more goals than we have......are you really try...

Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread
So we need Fleetwoods permission to terminate old safe hands Crellins loan do we? That sounds unusual? Well if we've said we'll take him on loan for a season and that's what we contracted to do, I'm not sure it's that unusual to be held to it? It's an odd one. If nowt else, can we borrow one of the...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan
“If you want entertainment, go to the circus”? Nobody’s saying attractive losing football is better than unattractive winning football. Because that’s daft. What I’m saying is that if my team only shoots twice in a game, it isn’t much fun as if they shoot 20 times. But yeah, the worst of all worlds ...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan
Delaney's 6'5, Greenidge 6'6, but it't not all about height – Iles pointedly noted how Delaney had been physically outdone by their 5'8 forward for the goal. And the Irishman's drop in form meant it wasn't a total shock when he lost his place for the previous game. I don't think anybody is exactly g...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan
He (IE) went absolutely ballistic at Delaney after one of the aimless clumps forward in the second half. The one he bollocked him for was a bit harsh I think. Gilks took 9 years to roll it 5 yards to him and he was at least under pressure near his own box. But I think his benefit of the doubt had g...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan
I really don't care too much how many shots we've had in a 2-0 win. 2 would be fine by me. :-) Each to his own, but there's a reason people more fondly recall the Rioch/Todd promotions than the Parkinson one. Wins are nice - from what I can remember! - but actually enjoying the game might not be a ...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan
For the stats about shots, it's only significant if they go in the onion bag and turn into points (in greater frequency than the oppo manage), otherwise might as well count corners too. Hmm. Bit reductive, IMO. Obviously goals are the only important metric, but shots can give a reasonable interpret...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan
You'd take it from 1-0 down - considering we're gutless etc - and it was interesting to see us try a different formation. We just need better players in it. Looked far too blunt in the last third, even during the increasingly traditional cavalry charge at 0-1. Intriguing. Not brilliant. Not even ver...
