Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Trying not to be impatient after a flying start. I’d expect more ins this week as Evatt said he wanted eight weeks of pre-season; counting back from the Sep 12 date that seems most likely, that means pre-season starts next Monday.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Yeah. There’s some interesting stories. Garbutt did well at Ipswich and Paul Lambert thinks he’ll get better offers than them, so we might have no chance. https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/paul-lambert-wants-to-keep-luke-garbutt-1-6711493 Jordan Graham (Wolves) and Nathan Thomas (Blades) seem ready but t...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

It's that kind of guy I imagine Tobias is eyeballing. Did you have a lawyer check your text before posting? You'll get us closed down! Be'ave. Anyway. Stripping out the big guns (eg Joe Hart) and the auld fellas, here's the work experience of the Premier releasees. And a large number of them ...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

I'm having a look and it's slim pickings for young players with any league experience. After that, well there's dozens, but God knows how good they are. This lad might fancy it though - Bolton-born, ex-City U23, and now Burnley have shunted him... https://worldfootballindex.com/2020/06/henri-ogunby-...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Do we know whose decision giving Edwards 3 years was? He looked far better than Zouma to me (though I think Zouma is a total donkey so not hard) but that's a lot for a 23 year old with not a lot of games. Was Phoenix involved then? Don't think he'd played much under Hill when he signed it. Hill was...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Very thorough research, DSB. But isn't cobbling together a squad of ageing journeymen kind of the opposite of what we're supposedly trying to do? Of course one or two older signings is fine, and I'm sure that's what you're advocating, but for me I'd like to see us linked with some younger players. ...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

I wouldn’t recommend signing them all, or indeed any gaggle of one-last-jobbers. Nor, apparently, would Evatt, who has hinted strongly at youthful or at least zestful players around a strong experienced spine. He also seems to want winners - fatuous in isolation, but those with experience of promoti...

Slightly bored and insomniac, last night I looked up which players Evatt had played alongside the most. No guarantee he'll like them, of course, but... https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ian-evatt/gemeinsameSpiele/spieler/37127/plus/0/galerie/0?gegner=0&kriterium=2&wettbewerb=&liga=&verein=&pos=&status...

Might also be worth pointing out that Adam Senior is a centre-back. IIRC.
He is indeed! Thanks.

Is that IT? The lot? I hadn't twigged we were that sparse. :-)
There will be others in what was the academy set-up - for instance, all scholars up to the U15s got an extra year offered Because COVID - but those are the only ones on pro contracts.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Iles says Doyle announcement "Won't be today. Later in week, I hear." Why? "Just that's what has been agreed."

Re: BWFC Squad 20'-21'

Here's what we've got, in descending age order per position, with teenagers in red as we shouldn't have to rely on them. And this time I remembered Delaney  GK: Matty Alexander DEF: Ryan Delaney, Liam Edwards, Harry Brockbank MID: Ali Crawford, Dennis Politic, Ronan Darcy, Sonny Graham, Cal...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

^ surprises me that Insane because that's how I imagined Lowe would fit in there for us. I assume amongst all the attacking options of Evatts system, there would be 1 holding midfielder ala Paul Warhurst sat in front of the 3 centre backs. Although his system sounds fluid he seems to play a 3-4-1-2...

Another name linked: Antoni Sarcevic. Just turned 28, 6ft 1in, creative midfielder. Italian and Serbian by ancestry but Mancunian by birth, at City to 15, then 100+ games each for Fleetwood and Plymouth. It says here the Plymouth fans called him the "Manchester Messi"... he's out of contract, they ...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Let's say Doyle is on £2k pw, that's c£300k over the period of his contract. If signing him eventually leads to promotion, then we'd only need to sell an additional 1k STs in D1 to recoup the costs. Bigger wage numbers have been bandied about online but Iles describes them as “bollocks” and politel...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Anyway, Nixon says we’ve signed Doyle pending medical. “Doyle is three year deal. Good money for the level. Nobody else would match in the end. Big punt. But goalscorers usually come at a premium.”

You've written Delaney off again DSB :D And Edwards. Gah! Knew the decision not to immediately factcheck meself would bite me in the arse. (Also, I forgot.) Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Sarcevic has a great reputation and would be another coup. Him, hopefully Doyle and Crawford would be a real statement of intent. Indeed. To the supporters, to other players and (for what it's worth) to the division. Centre-backs are being looked at as well, apparently (and fairly obviously, as we ...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Spearing a strange one for me. Not sure I'd go back there. How old is he now? Turns 32 in November. As I say, for me it's whether he's got the legs and is happy to play for a grand a week (he'd get more at Sunderland under Parky). But I suspect it may be an agent getting busy with the drumsticks. I...
