Re: Will our guile make Plymouth rock? FA Cup 1st Round 9.11.19 KO 3pm

Under the embargo we can only loan window-to-window; the same applies to Earl, Bridcutt and Wright, although we should be able to agree to buy out the contracts of the latter two. By contrast, Verlinden was only ever likely to be the one loan - either he'd be a success and they'd want him back or he...

Where are they now? Radhi Jaidi

The goal-a-game centre-back - you just didn't know whether it would be one he scored for us or gifted to them - has now become the head coach of Stateside second-tier team Hartford Athletic, on a 12-month secondment from Southampton, where he has been the U23 coach for a couple of years. https://www...

Could be out of all cups before November finishes
Depends on Tuesday at Valley Parade - if Bradford win by 3+ or Rochdale by 4+. Owt else, we're through to the knockouts, in the first midweek of December.

Re: Will our guile make Plymouth rock? FA Cup 1st Round 9.11.19 KO 3pm

Donny, Burton and Lincoln all drew, so we can’t organise our rearranged game against any of them in three weeks’ time on Second Round day. They’ll all have replays in 10 or 11 days’ time - and it’s possible we won’t be able to agree to play any of them 10/11 days after that even if they do go out.

Re: Parkinson Leaves

As luck would have it Parky thinks Dr Death aka Nick Allamby would be a good appointment 😂 Aye, seems Hill told Iles that he expects approaches for Allamby and GK coach Lee Butler. If they go, they go. Rare are the specific coaches at this level that make a vast difference. Butler seemed jovial and...

Re: Parkinson Leaves

Good it means that Hill can bring in his own men now. Obviously Butler needs replacing as GK coach (even if his exit escaped my notice), but it'll be interesting to see if Allamby is replaced - Hill's attitude towards sports science doesn't seem to be as bought-in as Parkinson, who didn'y seem to w...

Re: Will our guile make Plymouth rock? FA Cup 1st Round 9.11.19 KO 3pm

I hope Hilly does what BSA used to do in games like this. Half a side of regular first team players with the remainder made up of fringe and junior players, whilst having the insurance of the remaining first team players on the bench in case it starts to go tits-up. My memory of BSA in cup games wa...

Re: Onwards and Downwards: 2020 transfer speculation thread.

Maybe we couldn’t afford him - stringent wage cap under embargo Surely we find out from agents etc. what his salary demands are likely to be before approaching & asking the player to come & train with us or come on trial. Otherwise its just a complete waste of everyone's time, the club, staff & pla...

Re: Can we give the junior citizens the blues? Man City u23s EFL Trophy (H) 29.10.19 KO 7pm

Just on the Arsenal Cahill business. I had it in my mind that Wenger offered us 3 -3.5m for Cahill in the January knowing he was out of contract in the summer. We rightly told him to feck off and he went to Chelsea instead for 7m. Have I misremembered that? Arsenal's penny pinching bit them on the ...

Re: Cod Almighty or Fleetwood Cack? (H) Sat 2 Nov, 3pm

I really like how Emmanuel, when he goes round the opposition wide player, then often heads infield and attacks their defensive midfield, central defensive areas, as opposed to heading down the line. It happened more at Bristol than yesterday, due to him being forced to defend more, but I remember ...

Re: League One 2019/20

Having lost to the also-shit Tranmere and dropped below the dots because their old mates AFC Wombletown jammed an injury-tome equaliser, McDons (last 10: one point, one goal) turfed Paul Tisdale out within an hour of the final whistle. They've immediately replaced him with Russell Martin, the 33-yea...

Re: Cod Almighty or Fleetwood Cack? (H) Sat 2 Nov, 3pm

Fleetwood are one of the better sides in the division; points against that type of team are very welcome. I still think our (slim) chances of staying up are by winning the six-pointers against bottom-third teams, but it helps if we can nick points elsewhere too. By the way, I worked out this morning...
