I have a stinking cold just now. A Finn that I deal with has recommended the following cure - Put a teaspoon's worth of instant coffee into a cup. Fill cup with vodka until you can see the spoon again. That's it.
Has to be worth a go.

That's because in their homeland they are all either dead, in the drunk tank, or living in Russia where the vodka is cheaper.Bruce Rioja wrote:You know, for all the talk I've heard about drunken Finns, I'm yet to encounter one!Lost Leopard Spot wrote:A Finn and vodkaBruce Rioja wrote:I have a stinking cold just now. Brucie, Brucie, Brucie, they're like drunken Glaswegians whom one doesn't encounter in Glasgow but find on the steps of the Bolshoi, or on a tube train, or urinating against ground zero in New York yelling out "Oi, Jimmy". They're in places that isn't Helsinki.

Ah, when there I spend most of my time in Helsinki (lovely place). Perhaps I should venture out more often.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:That's because in their homeland they are all either dead, in the drunk tank, or living in Russia where the vodka is cheaper.Bruce Rioja wrote:You know, for all the talk I've heard about drunken Finns, I'm yet to encounter one!Lost Leopard Spot wrote:A Finn and vodkaBruce Rioja wrote:I have a stinking cold just now. Possibly because their suicide rate is so high, they've all topped themselves. I get seasonal affective disorder just losing the time from BST, so Christ only knows how bad it must be living in the dark for months at a time.Bruce Rioja wrote:You know, for all the talk I've heard about drunken Finns, I'm yet to encounter one!Lost Leopard Spot wrote:A Finn and vodkaBruce Rioja wrote:I have a stinking cold just now. This beautiful girl here is called Rosie Nelson. They're all her own ribs - count 'em if you like.
I'm just watching summat on the news in which, when Rosie Nelson turned up for a shoot looking like that, she was told to go and lose more weight.
Those of you with young daughters - is there a real pressure to apper skinnier than Rosie Nelson, or do they have the decent sense to tell folk to go feck themselves?

Re: General Chit Chat
But she has. I'm particularly put off by ones that are upturned. I remember one particular young lady in my student days who put me right off. It was quite gross, and I've had a thing against them ever since. Belly buttons need to be concave, a dip, without protuberance. It's probably very nonPC of me, but I literally feel sick when I see navels like hers. So shoot me.Bruce Rioja wrote:Wanker!Lost Leopard Spot wrote:She's got one plugugly belly button

There is very real pressure to appear very skinny - I'm not sure it comes overtly from anyone in particular. They don't tend to tell folks to go feck themselves.Bruce Rioja wrote:This beautiful girl here is called Rosie Nelson. They're all her own ribs - count 'em if you like.

Re: General Chit Chat
Walking past a house in our road today I met their new pet dog. I was passing the garden gate when our Alfie decided to have a fly at something behind the hedge (he's like that, thinks he's a Rotweiler). Next news it went dark and this huge, black apparition let out a woof something similar to a tipper waggon unloading a cargo of hardcore. My hair stood on end as this great head and shoulders loomed out at me over the gate. The woman who lives there appeared and said, "Don't worry, he's a soft as my pocket". She then told me it was a Tibetan Mastiff and weighed just under ten stones. I've never seen a dog's head that big in my life, not even a Newfoundland ( a couple of those live in our area too) It was xxxxxxx HUGE.....HUGE..

my daughter is in the "go feck yourself" camp - but - unfortunately, yes - there is HUGE pressure on teenage girls to be anorexically-thin - and the fairly new craze of havingt to have a huge "thigh-gap".
I was out shopping in Leeds and Bradford with her just this week - we were both trawling about after my missus who was looking for a non-existant jacket! We commented several times on the utterly ludicrous and dangerously thin legs of the shop-dummy models...

^^ though, to be fair Bish, they aren't real.
.... and, as a brief look at most of the girls in Leeds will show, they're taking bugger-all notice.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
