First off today's game had disappeared off the fixture list, now all the remaining games have gone too.Enoch wrote:I couldn't help noticing the club website seems to be dissolving into a puddle too.
Does this mean we've given in?

Actually realised there was another season in there that I just about missed but many on here will undoubtedly remember. The 70-71 season. Worrying that we still haven't won as many as the 79-80 relegated side. That side was the most doomed and hopeless I remember. This lot are damn close!

^^ I'd swap right now, this squad for that one.
Mcdonagh
Allardyce
Paul Jones
Nicholson
Walsh
Reid
Taddy
Cantello
Greaves
Gowling
Whatmore
They'd piss this lot.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

So Iles claims sports shield only found out about the Spearing payment clause after taking over last week. That's a pretty big cock up, but I suppose par for the course with how we were being run.

Did they know (or ask about) all possible future transfer fees and contract clauses? I'd guess that's part of due diligence. What must the honorary president think?BWFC_Insane wrote:So Iles claims sports shield only found out about the Spearing payment clause after taking over last week. From what I have heard the club had basically no grasp at all on outgoings and were surviving day to day for the past few months.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Did they know (or ask about) all possible future transfer fees and contract clauses? So I'm not surprised it was overlooked.
Worryingly it doesn't look like sports shield have the money to pay it, though that is hardly surprising. And if they did I'd be telling em not to bother.

Re: The breaking News thread...
I would expect that due diligence includes checking all financial contracts. And that surely includes player contracts, the main reason we're in shit.
I agree that it's not worth paying £100,000 (if that's the fee) for Spearing to play what are essentially dead rubbers. Might as well offer him for loan, someone might need him and pay a slice of his wages. Give someone else a chance in the team, because I expect Spearing will be off in summer if we can find any kind of taker.

You would expect future outgoings to be part of DD, aye.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Did they know (or ask about) all possible future transfer fees and contract clauses? It would be an available item ... but you have to ask & there's no obligation on the seller to inform if not asked.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:I would expect that due diligence includes checking all financial contracts. And that surely includes player contracts, the main reason we're in shit.

Re: The breaking News thread...
Marc Iles has mentioned the £100,000 this morning:
Is the payment triggered after his next match whenever it is? Or if we don't pick him before summer, does it "reset" until he plays his 23rd League One game next season?Meanwhile, it is understood Wanderers have made another request to Liverpool to defer the £100,000 payment owed on Jay Spearing until the summer.
The midfielder could be sent out on loan for the remainder of the campaign, with the payment triggered after his next league game for Bolton.

Think it resets next season. Think basically it is triggered if he appears in half or more of the games in any season.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Marc Iles has mentioned the £100,000 this morning:

Mind, it will be a disaster if Spearing is still here next season. Not because of him or his ability, but simply because of affordability.

Re: The breaking News thread...
Didn't get he get loaned to Blackburn after planing 20 or so matches last season? Suspect its on the 23rd league match and then reset each season. So any last 10 minute sub appearances start to look potentially expensive.

Re: The breaking News thread...
Yeah, sounds right. He's started 18 league games this season and come on 4 times: half-time at Hull, on 64 minutes at QPR, in the 86th minute at home to Brighton and in the 86th minute at home to MK Dons.
Last season he went to Blackburn on 21 appearances (15 starts). The season before – his first after we bought him – he *started* 45 league games and was only even subbed off once.

That's not how it works. There'll be a million and one questions during DD. It's up to SS to ask them.BWFC_Insane wrote:Yep looks that way. Can they not get around some of these things? Does Burnden Leisure still exist or is it now Sport Shield? If the deal was done with a company that's now non-operational,I have no ideaWorthy4England wrote:That's not how it works. There'll be a million and one questions during DD.
