Since the bombers were probably Belgian nationals I'm not sure how border security would help. I don't know much about FarridgeBruce Rioja wrote:Trump and Farridge already blaming "Lax border security". but on most issues Trump seems a bombastic ignoramus.

Re: Muslims, racists, individuals and attitudes.
Where any logic exists in these attacks is beyond reason, even imagination. Terrorists, presumably Muslims from reports, blow up and kill innocent non-combatants in any war, two thosand miles away from source to prove what exactly? They don't even know what nationality or religion their victims might be in a public place like an airport. It defies any form of rationl explanation.

Crikey - was doing my expenses yesterday and said to Girl Friday "I don't remember going into Starbucks at Brussels Airport". That'll be exactly where they detonated the second bomb then?!

I'll tell you this, as being neither Jewish, Christian, nor Muslim, I've personally never encountered any Jew who has threatened me or my family for being non-religious, or for being a citizen of the UK. I've encountered a fair few right wing Christian nutters who would threaten me if they could, but are so inane as to be not a threat, and even more left wing Christians whose main threat is that they subscribe to the anti-semite anti-Zionist narrative spouted by Hamas and Hezbollah. But they all fade into total insignificance in the face of the Muslims I've encountered, Shiite and Sunni, who want to fxcking kill me and my family because I'm not religious... and that doesn't even fxcking begin to tap into the shit those bastards pour forth on a daily basis against those unfortunate enough to be born Jewish.
Perhaps I'm an outlier, but I've never had anyone, of any race or religion threaten to kill me.
I was in Manchester when "white Christians" had a fairly good go like, but still, I didn't take it personally.

But then again, you, like Corbyn, are a friend of Hamas, so what can we expect.

How many incidents do there have to be before people realise Islam is not a religion of peace?
Anyway, do we think these Muslims were also lone wolves? There seems to quite a few of them these day.

Islam doesn't have agency.
The more lone wolves there are doesn't make any one any less lone.
I don't understand the point.

If I accept the contention that Islam isn't a peaceful religion, what happens next?

A lot of terrorists are Muslim - These terrorists use passages from a really old book as a source of justification for the violence perpetrated.
A lot more Muslims aren't terrorists - These non-terrorist Muslims use passages from a really old book as a source of condemnation for the violence perpetrated.
I really don't think that, for example, the muslim women who regularly serve me at the checkouts in Sainsbury's who say 'Have a nice evening!' are muttering 'death to the infidels' under their breath as I walk away, or the muslim bloke who sold newspapers to my grandad every day for years, or the waiters who give me and my mates free baileys with our bill, or the Imam who lives nearby who had us over for tea and biscuits once, or my Nonna's neighbour who brought a plate of food round for Eid etc etc
Does Islam cause terrorism? Would terrorism stop if religion didn't exist or would they just find some other reason?
If nothing else the fact that if you think that you're agreeing with Donald Trump, Piers Morgan, Katie Hopkins & Richard Dawkins is a pretty good indication that you've gone wrong.

I dunno, when I'm flipping burgers and some bastard turns up in a red shirt with AIG on the front, I am always muttering "death to the red bastards" under my breath...Beefheart wrote:If I follow it logically.Worthy4England wrote:I'm a bit lost too.Prufrock wrote:Islam doesn't have agency.

The point still stands - if I realise that Islam is not a peaceful religion - as suggested by malcd - what happens now? Do I throw a party? Stop talking to some folks? Go to war? What?
Re: Muslims, racists, individuals and attitudes.
I don't find much logic in this statement

He then goes on to addA senior British counter-terrorism police officer condemned Donald Trump’s claim that British Muslims are not reporting extremists in their communities to police.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that Trump’s comments are wrong and could spark hate crimes.
He said: “If we demonise one section of the community, that is the worst thing we can do. We are absolutely playing into the terrorists’ hands of making people feel hate.”
Well are they or aren't they?Basu admitted British police have to do more to encourage Muslims and other Britons to report suspicious activity to police.
