More convinced than ever now that it is Reid's job and the likes of Redfearn will be rumoured to make Reid seem more appealing....
hang on - so - Iles is what?? he's not now reporting news but acting as misinformation spin-doctor in some kind of back-room conspiracy?

In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

For avoidance of doubt, my comment was firmly tongue in cheek.....thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Iles says that Neil Redfearn is "in the frame".

As I said yesterday if they really wanted Reid it'd be done by now. I think he's probably a backup option.thebish wrote:so you're NOT more convinced than ever that it is Reid's job?

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?
While I remain far from convinced on Reid, there are caveats to a couple of his roles.
At Leeds, he took over temporarily when they were going out of business, kept them up, was given a contract and then told to sell more players; not many managers would succeed under those conditions.
At Plymouth, he was also in charge of a skint sinking ship. They'd just dropped from tier two when he was appointed; they then had trouble with our friends at the tax office, sold their best players, went into administration, were docked 10 points and dropped again. They had so little money they couldn't pay the youth team or the heating bills, so Reid did, auctioning off medals to do so. He was sacked by Peter Ridsdale with the Pligrims bottom of the entire league, prompting sympathetic pieces in the Guardian and Telegraph, and this piece sums up the fans' high regard for him.
Doesn't mean he's a great manager, or the right choice, but I think the PPGs thebish mentions should be put in context.

Aye I don't think his record is much worse than many we'd be likely to appoint.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:While I remain far from convinced on Reid, there are caveats to a couple of his roles.

The problem is he's done nothing of much relevance for a long time, is associated with outdated methods and techniques, especially man-management wise and has a reputation for playing fairly basic football.
We're going into a fairly basic league but must get the best out of the likes of Clough if he's still here and I'd question if Reid was the right man for that.
If we had the money to go and sign some experienced battling pro's we'd be able to go and get a better manager than Reid I suspect.

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?
it's a pity we just offloaded all our youngsters! It is understood both clubs have approached Redfearn because of his reputation for bringing young players through the ranks.

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?
Didn't Redfearn, when he left us 30 years ago, say he'd never play for us again?

This is exactly where the 'fountain of insider knowledge' Iles gets his information from, and then tweets as if he's ITK....Riviman wrote:Couple of sites reporting Redfearn in the frame:

I guess a player-manager WOULD save some cash!

I'm forecasting Peter Reid based on knowing nothing.

Is anyone linking us with Neil Warnock?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I imagine Warnock will be wanted by teams in a higher division, one he's worked in since Flat Eric was in the charts
