Definitely feels like a KA bluff. But bluff or not, it isn't exactly the kind of announcement that encourages HMRC to think "Some agreement is imminent, we will give the club the benefit of the doubt and give maximum leniency on the liquidation process"BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 4:32 pmYou have a lot more faith in this Basran dude than me. Sounds like Basran deal dead.Bolton Wanderers Football Club can confirm that discussions with one of the interested parties have now been mutually terminated.
The Club can also confirm that discussions are ongoing with other parties.
A further update will be made in due course.

HMRCs very harrased junior QC stands up and asks for BWFC liquidation.
BWFCs equally junior and very inexperienced QC asks for time as 'things are unfolding'.
Judge bangs gavel and declares parties must get together and bang heads. Adjourns proceedings to a month's time.
Panic fannies.
You are relying on either Ken showing proof that a takeover is sufficiently close for court to award extra time.
OR court deciding there are grounds in public interest to delay.
But the latter probably still relies on some sort of takeover rescue package being in the offing somewhere....
I hope Anderson has a takeover well, well advanced up his sleeve....

Yep, I get that. And it is, I should say, only faith - or rather a suspicion (which is all faith is, right?) that it's just a big game. Basran keeps pulling out, and I'm guessing it's not because he's a tyre-kicker (why take so long? why involve Mike James etc?) but because Ken's impossible to deal with. He keeps pulling out but he keeps going back. And either Ken finally bites or we're in trouble, possibly big trouble, possibly club-ending trouble.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 4:32 pmYou have a lot more faith in this Basran dude than me. I'm not trying to win an argument. If I'm wrong, it's bad news. There have been many times where I'd rather be happy than be right. Same for you, I'm sure, when you've assumed the worst in previous seasons (we're not going up, we're definitely going down, Parky's going to Club X...). I assumed the worst for that week between Burton and Forest. I was wrong. This time, I hope I'm right, because any other route to safety now would be the sort of dramatic deus ex machina happy ending to make a schlock Hollywood scriptwriter blanche. They happen occasionally - ask Aaron Wilbraham - but a lot more regularly they don't.

I don't have any feeling on this either way. I feel worried but I think Ken is a complete mystery - anything could happen.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 4:43 pmYep, I get that. I just do not like the game playing over a football club and the complete lack of apparent concern.

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )
If it helps, just imagine that our club is currently owned by a sociopath who won't let go, and it requires someone willing to play him at his own stupid game in order to save the day. If said someone tried to play it straight, the sociopath would move his liquid goalposts once again.
I'm not saying at all that that's what's happening here. Just a bedtime story. An idle fantasy.

Narrator: That is precisely what is happening, except "Sociopath" might be too mild a term.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 4:54 pmIf it helps, just imagine that our club is currently owned by a sociopath who won't let go, and it requires someone willing to play him at his own stupid game in order to save the day. 99% of them are about companies nobody has ever heard of. The 1% that are, the judge will have asked questions beforehand so s/he won't look like a fxcking pillock.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 4:41 pmFor any normal business these hearings are "is debt paid yet" "no" "winding up order granted" NEXT....Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 4:34 pmPREDICTION TIME.

The easiest way not to look like a fxcking pillock is to divert it on to somebody else's docket. It's a well known tactic.

The writer seems to think administration and a points deduction is the likeliest outcome and the list of former greats - Okocha - so good they mentioned him twice - fair enough but Cowdrill?!

I think Glendenning's making a joke about his fellow Barry - and a very well-informed one, too.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 5:01 pmA couple of surprising statements in there;Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 3:45 pmMeanwhile we're the lead story on the Guardian Fiver...

But he does seem behind the curve about admin/liquidation. We're all learning as we go.

The real question should be: Why on earth hasn't the Basran group walked away completely? And why would anyone else be interested?
It is an absolutely lousy financial proposition, and then you have to deal with a complete nutjob. I truly don't see a way out of this

Don't understand the benefit of that "Club Statement" to anyone. It's a bit like announcing "we've stopped reading our Horoscopes"...If there was a mutual termination - then both parties know that anyhow...So who is it actually a message to? Fans to keep them informed (bit pointless if you're busy in negotiations)? Basran consortium who mutually terminated and would know anyhow (Can't see why)? HMRC to say "there's another game in town" we only just at the 24th hour terminated with the previous lot unable to strike a deal? (My money would be here)Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 4:29 pmSounds like Ken trying every trick he can to pressure Basran back to the tableBWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 4:27 pmhttps://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2019/march/club-statement/

Quite obviously it is an attempt to have HMRC delayed in court.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 5:19 pmDon't understand the benefit of that "Club Statement" to anyone. I think Lep and W4E are right, this is a pisspoor smoke signal to the Feds. But it also has the added Kenefits of (1) blamestorming someone else and (2) getting attention.

He's probably going to need something a bit more concrete than a statement on the Club's website and telling Court that he can't reveal who it is because there's an NDA in place...So if I assume that he has something more concrete, then the Club Statement unlikely to weigh at all in front of M'Lud - it's evidence of fcuk all.

The fact that is evidence of fcuk all, also suggests the absence of anything really relevant or substantial, meaning logically more chance of HMRC viewing it negatively than positively....Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 5:39 pmHe's probably going to need something a bit more concrete than a statement on the Club's website and telling Court that he can't reveal who it is because there's an NDA in place...So if I assume that he has something more concrete, then the Club Statement unlikely to weigh at all in front of M'Lud - it's evidence of fcuk all.

As several have noted, you can't bluff or bullshit HMRC and the courts... I doubt they'll accept Ken (who won't be there) saying "I'm talking to loads of investors now, really rich ones, on my imaginary phone" is going to help...bristol_Wanderer3 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 5:45 pmThe fact that is evidence of fcuk all, also suggests the absence of anything really relevant or substantial, meaning logically more chance of HMRC viewing it negatively than positively....Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 5:39 pmHe's probably going to need something a bit more concrete than a statement on the Club's website and telling Court that he can't reveal who it is because there's an NDA in place...So if I assume that he has something more concrete, then the Club Statement unlikely to weigh at all in front of M'Lud - it's evidence of fcuk all.
