Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I doubt Baka's a wantaway, but he probably sees himself going down the pecking order. Good luck to him if he goes or stays.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Yeah exactly. It could be riskier to not sell them, especially if there's decent money being offered (no idea what that would be for Baka - £150k?).Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:14 pmThey're not guaranteed to come off, but reality is, Dapo and Baka have 4 goals between them in the league and two assists...That's less than Bradley...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:00 pmI think the question comes down to better, being better immediately, fitting in. Surely wouldn’t sell two forwards in a window that would be a bit reckless. I suppose depends on who comes in.
I think that it will be interesting to see what we do.

Baka’s gone to FGR for an undisclosed fee: https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2023/januar ... en-switch/

Yep I absolutely buy that argument. Can’t see us having got anymore than £50k for him, but still good business to get a few quid for him and his wage off the books whilst clearing a squad space for a more effective attacking player.

Another club were quoted north of the 150k mentioned. Given how badly FGR need him we may be surprised if we actually saw the terms.brommers95 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:39 pmCan’t see us having got anymore than £50k for him, but still good business to get a few quid for him and his wage off the books whilst clearing a space for a more effective attacking player.

We'll never know the price.

Given the way the BWFC article is phrased it sounds like Nlundulu is the new Baka.brommers95 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:39 pmCan’t see us having got anymore than £50k for him, but still good business to get a few quid for him and his wage off the books whilst clearing a squad space for a more effective attacking player.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
In the best possible way, I'm happy he's gone.
It's a great move for him, as he will play every week. FGR get a decent player at this level who may help them stay up. We free up his wages, have got a fee and have made space in the squad.
One of those nice times everyone wins.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Yeah, it was clear he was struggling here with lack of game time and wasn't making an impression off the bench in the way he did last year. And I liked him. An honest player who always tried and looked like he enjoyed himself on the pitch.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:46 pmIn the best possible way, I'm happy he's gone.

I think he was still a useful squad player for us but realistically he wasn't going to fire us into the play offs and I think he deserves to play more.
We have good relations with FGR at ownership level too so sure deal was decent all round.

Yeah, I suppose it depends if they caved a bit due to need or we got something done and suddenly actively wanted him out.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:51 pmWe have good relations with FGR at ownership level too so sure deal was decent all round.
If we announce someone today or tomorrow I'd not be shocked. I recognise that "Nlundulu is the new Baka" makes sense, but the fact we were promoting a firm line after Nlundulu was done suggests something changed.
If it's not a new signing it's probably a bit more cash.

Are we sure FGR will pay up after the Doidge fiasco?!

Evatt confirms we've accepted multiple bids for Dapo.
https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/2 ... -afolayan/
“This is one that will probably separate the fanbase and everyone will have an opinion,” he said. “The facts – and I won’t give you numbers – but we have had some offers for Dapo and they have reached our valuation, so we have given permission for it to be discussed with the player himself. We are along in that process at the moment.”
Also the article claims (not Evatt but the article) that selling Dapo has nothing to do with incomings. Its purely a valuation/contract thing.

All the best Baka. You always gave your all whenever you played for BWFC. Really hope you do well at FGR, but just remember not to score against us.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Farewell, Baka; always an honest chap who tried, and that will always be the first requirement. And it was nice to have a new tune to sing, even if Give Me Oil In My Lamp is hardly a product of the TikTok times.
We needed an upgrade, and we can only assume we have secured one - for now, at least - in Nlundulu. The big question is whether we get an upgrade for Dapo, now we've been made offers we'd rather not refuse.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I was told last summer that we valued Dapo at £1.25m (no idea as to the reliability of the source). I imagine that valuation has come down slightly this season with him not being a regular starter.

Yeah, that's an interesting – and arguably slightly daft - thing to release.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 3:43 pmEvatt confirms we've accepted multiple bids for Dapo.

"Wanderers’ transfer plans for January are not thought to be influenced by Afolayan’s departure with money already made available to sign one or two targets currently on Evatt’s shortlist."
In other words, once we get bunce for Dapo, selling clubs know we're riper for ripping off...
